Dahyun wakes up to voices echoing throughout her unit. She lies flat on her back and notices that she's already alone in her bed.
Damn it, she thought. She was supposed to tell Jimin that they have to be more careful because more people might know about their arrangement, but whatever Jimin was doing to her last night completely distracted her and she wasn't able to string up a coherent sentence.
She hears an old woman's voice and immediately, her eyes widen. Was Jimin watching TV? He never stayed over in the morning.
And why does that voice sound familiar?
Dahyun got up and quickly put on a large sweater and some track shorts before heading out of the room.
"Jimin," she calls out as she exits the door, but when she sees that the living room is empty and the TV is turned off, her heart almost stops.
Everything was quiet and she questions whether the voices she heard a while ago were just a figment of her imagination or just some remnant of her dream from just waking up.
But just when Dahyun was about to consider that her unit might be haunted, a voice calls out from the kitchen.
"Dahyun," an old woman says. And as she walks toward the kitchen to see her grandmother and her assistant... and Jimin, she realizes that reality was way worse than having a haunted apartment.
"Glad you could join us," she continues.
"Good morning, halmeonim," Dahyun says as she bows to her grandmother and gives a nod to her assistant.
Jimin was standing awkwardly by the entrance to the kitchen and he was giving her an expression that screamed "WHAT THE FUCK SHOULD I DO?"
"I was asking this young man to introduce himself, but now that you're here, I think it's best that you introduce him to me," her grandmother said.
She's relieved her grandmother didn't have the chance to interview Jimin yet but then realizes there's no other way to escape this situation when she sees a hickey prominently displayed on Jimin's neck.
Her grandmother wasn't an idiot. It didn't take a genius to figure out what Jimin getting out of her bedroom at this time of day meant.
"Halmeoni," Dahyun starts as she moves closer to Jimin and sticks to his side. "This is my boyfriend, Park Jimin." She looks at Jimin as she says it, pleading that he got the message to play along with her.
"So you're her boyfriend?" Dahyun's grandmother asks Jimin. "Good because I was beginning to think I had a slut for a granddaughter who slept around with men she's not in a relationship with."
Jimin could feel Dahyun take a deep breath at that statement, struggling to keep her composure. It was his turn to put an arm around her shoulder.
"Yes, Mrs. Kim. I'm Park Jimin. I just graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in business administration. I'm also a friend of Taehyung's," He says it out like a script. Immediately after that statement, he knew that Dahyun's grandmother was the type of person who'd want her grandkids to socialize with people like them.
He was no chaebol, but his parents raised him and his sister to be dignified and educated to not get trampled on by people like Dahyun's grandmother.
