Jin was supposed to get up to go brush his teeth and wash up but he struggles to get out of bed. Sitting up only worsened his headache.
He woke up earlier in the morning with a fever and immediately emailed his supervisor that he'd have to take a sick leave. Minutes after sending the email, his adviser called to say he should stay home for as long as he needed to recover and informed him that they'd be sending a care package or something as part of company protocol.
After staring at the ceiling and wondering why he got sick all of a sudden, Jin finally forces himself to get out of bed.
He shuffles towards the bathroom and manages to wash up and brush his teeth, with his head and body protesting the entire time.
Jin has his blanket cloaked on him as he heads to the kitchen to get himself some water and attempt to cook himself ramen when the doorbell rings.
Must be the care package.
True enough, he's greeted with a package when he opens the door, but rather than a delivery person, Im Nayeon was holding it. She takes one look at him and barges into his apartment.
"Go lie down in bed. Have you eaten already? Have you taken your meds?" she asks.
Jin hasn't even closed the door yet and was still standing by the door in shock.
Nayeon sighs and sets the package down on the coffee table before pulling Seokjin towards his room.
"Nice place," she comments as she leads a still mute Jin to bed.
He barely reaches the bed when his headache gets the better of him and he lets himself sprawl on the bed immediately.
"Why aren't you at work?" he manages to ask.
"This is work," Nayeon answers. The butterflies he hasn't realized that were in his stomach die down.
She's here for work, not because she wants to. Stop making assumptions.
"They asked me to bring your care package,"
"So," Nayeon continues. "Have you eaten and taken your meds already?"
She was sitting on the edge of his bed, looking at him with a worried face.
"Not yet, mom," he jokes. Immediately her face turns sour and she slaps him jokingly on the arm.
"Being sick doesn't give you the excuse to be annoying," she says as she heads out of the room.
"Stay in bed!" she calls out when she's already out the door.
Jin drifts off and is gently nudged awake later. He opens his eyes to Nayeon sitting on the edge of his bed again, holding a bowl of something. Whatever it was, it smelled good.
"You need to eat so you can take your meds already," she says.
Seokjin sits himself up on bed. "Thanks," he says as he was going to reach out for the bowl. Instead, Nayeon spoons the soup herself and brings the spoon to his mouth. He's surprised but he allows himself to eat anyways.
"This tastes amazing! Did you cook this?" he asks.
"Me? Cook? I wish!" Again, he hears Nayeon's loud laugh and he thinks that that alone would be enough to cure his throbbing headache. "It's part of the package they sent over. I just heated it up."
"Thanks," he says and takes a hold of the bowl. "And I can eat on my own you know."
Instead of spooning the soup, he slurps from the bowl directly, making Nayeon laugh again.
