Love at the Sea

Fifteen: Leilani

The nice calming-ness of the lazy river was peaceful but next thing I knew I was under water.

I see Kalei sitting on his board staring at me. His face registers shock and he seems to be frozen.

Next I see someone jump into the water but everything starts to get blurry.

What's going on? I try to talk but I can't.

I scream but no one seems to hear me.

Help Me! HELP ME! I scream but the more I open my mouth the deeper I fall.

The water starts turning dark, almost black...then I see a light. I hear crying all around me but all I see is black.

What's happening? Who's crying? I keep hearing people cry.

I try to talk but water fills my throat. I cough and cough but it doesn't seem to help. Next thing I knew I was staring at the blue sky.

"Lei? What to go sleep in your room?" I continue to stare at the sky then I nod.

The person picks me up and carries me to the elevator in the hotel. I drape my arms around his head.

He kisses me on my forehead but not matter how much I will my brain and eyes to focus they just don't. We go into a room and he lays me on the bed, I fall back asleep.

You know that feeling someone gets while sleeping then all of a sudden the person jolts up, yup I felt it.

I open my eyes and see Kalei sleeping in the bed next to me then the door opens I immediately close my eyes.

"Kalei, did you get everything packed up?" I hear Kalei in a tired voice say yes. "How long has Leilani been sleeping? I want us to all go sightseeing. Wake her up while I tell the guys," Makana says.

Then I hear the door close. I open my eyes. I look over to where Kalei is and his eyes are closed.

I slip out of bed and went into the bathroom. I turned on the faucet and then blank. I was back in the water, this time on my board. I was looking at the shore and I saw Kalei coming in with his board.

I look around me and I saw everyone from Friday laughing and splashing around in the water. Everything turns black again. I see a small light. I hear voices of people calling my name.

I go towards the light and my eyes open. I try to get up but it's hard. I look to the sky and I see a pink and golden sky. Someone helps me up, it's Friday again. Why do I keep coming back here?

"Lei? Lei?" I open my eyes, I'm in the hotel bathroom again and Kalei is holding me I hug him and say, "Thank God, I'm back."

He holds me and said, "Where were you?" While he's helping me up I say, "I keeping going back to Friday."

We walk out of the bathroom and Kanoe is there.

He gets up and helps me sit down on the bed. "If you don't want to come to the sightseeing with us it's okay, we'll make Makana understand."

I shake my head. When's the next time I'll get to hang out with Kalei, I want to go sightseeing with everyone. 

I stand up and walk to my suitcase. I pick out a couple articles of clothes then look at Kanoe and Kalei.

"What if something happens to you?" Kalei asks. Kainoa walks in the room and says, like he has been listening to everything that has been going on, "Then I'll stay and watch over Leilani." Kalei and Kanoe walks out of the room.

"Finally," Kainoa exclaims, "I get to sleep on an actual bed. He jumps on my bed and goes to sleep.

I walk into the bathroom and in the shower. After taking a relaxing hot shower I look at my dress which was a tube light blue sundress, Makana helped me buy it when Kalei said he liked it two summers ago when we all went to Kauai together.

The dress cut off right before my knees. I dry off my hair that I know when it dries it'll hang on my shoulder in nice waves. I then slipped on my brown sandals with two inch heels that matched my dress' brown belt.

I walked out of the bathroom and saw Kalei on my bed, Kainoa still sleeping, Makana putting on makeup and Kanoe watching TV. "I'm ready."

Everyone looks at me and Makana says, "I knew you would bring that dress!" Kalei looked at me and smiled.

We all walked out of the room and into the elevator.
