Love at the Sea

Ten: Kaleikoa

The moment the plane gets off the ground Lei puts in her earphones and leans on me and falls asleep. I lean over to her and kiss her forehead.

She opens her eyes and mumbles, "Parents behind us," then closes her eyes again. I look between the seats and see Lei's dad, uncle JJ is sleeping and Aunty Pua was talking to my mom. I whisper to Lei, "They aren't looking."

She opens her eyes again, "They aren't looking but my brothers are staring." She closes her eyes again and falls back to sleep. I look over to Makana and kaikunane when they see me looking they look away. "Lei, come on wake up."

I nudge her but all I really do was make her lean on the window. "Kaleikoa..." I hear my name and turn around my mom then says, "That's not how you want to treat her. She might be really tired from talking to you last night."

I nod then hear Aunty Pua, "What happened?" Please don't say anything, please don't say anything. Then I hear Kainoa, "Kalei told Lei he loves her."

Shit! Lei's eyes flies open and she unbuckles her seat belt. She gets up and walks out to the hallway she turns back to me and says, "Please get me Pepsi and pretzels."

Then turns to Kainoa and says in her strict annoyed voice, "I'm trying to sleep and you talking about me isn't helping." She glared at him for a few seconds and turned to walk to the restroom. I turn to Kai, "Who told you about what I said to Lei?"

Everyone looked at my mom and she said, "I couldn't resist. We've all been waiting for you two to become a couple for like forever," then my mom smiled.

At that moment Lei came back, slid back to her seat, buckled up again and put in her earphones back on. A couple minutes later the flight attendant came and I ordered her snack and drink.

After sleeping for another ten minutes Lei finally opens her eyes. She looks at the drink and drinks some then leans over back on my shoulder and opens her pretzels to start eating. "It's cute, my brother trying to be protective of me," she says.

I leaned over and kiss her on her forehead again, she smiles and said, "I've been waiting forever for you to do that." "I love you, you know and I've been waiting for forever to do that," I whispered to her. "Kalei, what did you just tell my sister," I heard Kanoe say.

"None, of your business," she says in her sweet, innocent voice and smiles, the smile that I love to see her in so much. I want to kiss her on her lips but knowing her and my parents are probably staring and our older siblings are definitely staring at us.

I stop myself and just smile at her. "We are now making our descent now. Please fasten your seat belts."

Lei drinks the last of her Pepsi and stares out the window.

I wonder what she's thinking. If she just looks at me I'll know, maybe that's why she won't look at me in the eyes.

The flight was almost one hour.

After checking in Kanoe, Kai, and Makana called home to tell them they are okay. My parents and Lei's parents went to go get changed, to go swimming, when they were walking out of the room Aunty Pua said in a stern voice, "We may not be here but be ready for questioning Kaleikoa."

When they left it was just Lei and I, the problem was Lei was sleeping. Jet lag stopped us from talking about yesterday. I go to the bathroom to change, I really want to surf over here and now that Lei can surf we can surf together.

Just after I was finished changing I hear a knock. "Kalei? Are you in there?" I open the door and immediately Lei faints. I pick her up and place her in her bed and got my phone.

As I get up to leave the room to call someone and I feel a little gasp on my shorts. Turning around I see Lei mouthing "Please don't leave me." I sit on her bed and call Makana.

This is not how I wanted to start my weekend with her.
