I saw the flickering lantern glow beside the river, I saw the light bouncing off her blue dress. "Y/n?"

"Ohh Hello Romulus" she smiled as she turned and saw me "What are you doing here?"

"You uhh you left your herbology book at home," I told her kneeling beside her on the bank of the river handing her the little book

"Ohh thank you Romulus, I was missing my little book" she smiled taking it "Are you alright?" she asks taking my hand

"Fine, nothing to worry about my darling" I smiled giving her a kiss "How's it going?"

"good made three bottles of moon water, cleansed the crystals, and a few other bits"

"Yes" I nodded

"You don't understand do you?" she asked

"Not really no, but you know what your doing"

"it's what you get" she giggled

"Umm for marring a witchy girl" I smirked "maybe you just put a spooky little spell on me"

"Maybe I did"

"You might have done" I laughed "I mean, I don't understand half the things that happened at our wedding"

"what didn't you understand?"

"most of it. the ribbon, the water, the fire... the fact I had to walk so far"

"What did you understand?"

"I understood that at the end of it all, I was married to you."

"that all you cared about?"

"it was" I nodded watching her work "Y/n? do you remember the night we met?"

"Of course I remember" she giggled

"I'd never seen a girl as pretty as you" I smiled

"Hummm" she giggled

"Hum?"

"I remember racing with you down to swans point...."

"And I fell in the bog"

"you were soaked through and you had moss in your hair"

"and you had to hitch your dress up and come help me out" I laughed

"And then it started raining"

"Raining? it was one of the worse thunderstorms we had for years"

"so we sat on the well huddled under the cover"

 ".... I think I knew I loved you then"

"Then? when My dress was half stuck to my legs, I was covered in mud, soaked through by the rain, ringing frogspawn out my hair" she giggled

"I did. I looked at you and I just.... I wanted to marry you"

"That's sweet Romulus"

"it wasn't long before,.... the waterfall"

"No, it wasn't" she smiled "come, we need to get back for the children. and you still need your bath"

"I know" I sighed rolling my eyes, I helped her gather her things and I helped her up holding her hand as we walked back to the village
