Part 22

I knew how early it was getting, the sun slowly rising over the village. I was messy. I felt sick, I couldn't keep the scent of blood out of my sinuses, impossible to stop tears flooding down my face listening to those horrid blood-curling screams, I counted the time between them but they were getting longer and longer, 

"AAAAHHHHHHHHhhh!"

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

I kept counting but this went on too long I was scared I hadn't heard anything for over ten minutes. I hoped it was over but... my fear thought of many other reasons why it was quiet. 

"Romulus?" Came from the door I looked up and saw the nurse standing there she opened the door wide for me and went down the stairs, I was scared looking into the little bedroom, now a little dark given the sun had risen but the blinds drawn, The scent still overwhelming I stepped inside making sure to shut the door behind me, the room silent. I went over to our bed and I saw y/n laid there facing away from me I crawled into bed with her wrapping my arms around her softly and gently giving her shoulder as many kisses as possible 

"Y/n?"

"Hi Romulus"

"Are you okay little lady?"

"Ohh yeah. fantastic. I feel amazing" she says

"You know what I mean sweetie. are you okay?"

"I'm okay. as okay as I can be" 

"I'm sorry I wasn't here to help"

"It's alright Romulus," she says "I know you were just outside, you would have been in here if you could"

"I would, I always wanna be here for you," he says "I Never wanna miss a moment, but I'm just happy you're okay" 

she moved a little sitting up in bed and I held her even closer "Did you wanna see little Isaac" she smiled cradling the little baby in her hands 

"Isaac? he's okay too?"

"we're both okay, just a very complex and painful time. but were okay" she smiled 

"Can I hold him?"

"Of course" she smiled handing little Isaac over to me 

"Hi, little guy, hey, hello. I didn't know you were meant to come along today." I smiled "but I'm so happy you're here." I smiled stroking his sweet little face "You're a beautiful little guy, so very beautiful Isaac. and I'm so happy you and mummy are both okay" I smiled giving his little head a kiss 

"Hey kids" Y/n smiled to the door where Arthur and Lisbeth at the door "Come meet your little brother" 

they both happily ran over and climbed into the bed with us trying to see their little brother 

"Ummm I love you all, my beautiful little family" I smiled handing Isaac back to y/n and pulling her and the children close in my arms
