Part 20

As soon as I got home I saw Arthur and Lisbeth on the doorstep with Cerberus, I did my best not to sound panicked they looked scared enough 

"Where's your mother?"

"Inside, she was screaming and the nurse lady said we can't go in" Arthur explained 

"It's okay, it's all okay. maybe just uhhhh maybe mummy just has a bad tummy ache" I told them giving them both a cuddle "You two stay out there okay till I tell you it's okay, I'll uh I'll go see mummy" I told them they both nodded so I went inside seeing the house, dark and cold as when I left this morning the small hint of light cascading down the stairwell from our bedroom upstairs, I froze a chill moving down my spine as I heard a muffled scream the sounds of pure pain and agony within those screams each time I heard them I felt sicker, my fear turning my stomach. I took each step on the stairs slowly and silently still freezing any time I heard a scream it got louder the closer I got, the light getting brighter and brighter as I got closer to our bedroom, I saw the door open a crack where the light-flooded from. I could smell the horrid metallic scent of blood, I could hear the screams loud but still muffled I went close trying to peek inside, I saw the village nurse but she saw me first and shut the door on me. I didn't want to interrupt, so I just perched myself on the stairs my back against the door, I hated to listen every scream made me wanna cry but when there was silence I was full of even more fear I would count the seconds between her screams in the hope of seeing if they were getting better or worse. Every moment felt like an hour, every scream turned my stomach, each wave of silence counted and overthought with panic. Until the door clicked open.
