Chapter 10

Dream's POV

"I think you're gonna want to look at this Dream." Sap seems shaken up so I quickly grab the letter from him. The paper is wrinkled from how he was holding it tightly.

I read the letter with George reading it next to me. Before I even got close to finishing the letter I got to stop. I walk over to the wall and punch it as hard as I can. Some of the photos on the wall fall off and shatter.

Who is T and what do they want from me? I'm gonna meet them tonight. Is there just two or is there more than one person? Should George and Sapnap come with me? What if something happens to them? I already lost almost all of the people I care about. What do I need to negotiate with?

I can't even do anything to this "T" since they have Drista who is my only living family now.

"Dream. We will get her back tonight. One way or another Drista is coming with us. " George didn't even get to meet her and he is still comforting me.

"It's 11:15. Do you want to start heading over since it may be harder to travel at night." I just give a nod and stand up. I turn around and lean my hand out for George to help him get up. I put the note in George's bag since mine is already full.

Sap leads the way and Georgie is behind me. We walk through the streets with abandoned cars along the side. I wonder if we can hotwire a car and get there faster.

"Wait. I have an idea. Cover me." I whisper to them as I walk over a car with an infected in it. I grib my machete in my right hand and my left on the car door.

I open the door and before the infected even has a chance to react I plunge my weapon into its heart. I pull it back out and walk over to the driver side of the car. Sap hops into the passenger and George sits in the back and literally kicks the now corpse out of the car.

Thankfully whoever died in this car left the keys in. I start the car up and immediately whatever infected that is nearby hears it and starts making its way over to the car.

"Dream. Drive" I didn't even need Sap to tell me that as I slam onto the gas flooring it. The needle is about a 30 minute drive so we should end up there 10 minutes till and then we will climb the stairs to the top.

I'm having to constantly take sharp turns and drift to keep the infected off of our trail. I'm going 120 and it is exhilarating to be able to drive like this. I also don't have to worry about running over the zombies since they are already dead.

Despite it being a fucking apoalypse, George reaches for the radio and turns on "Sweater Weather" He and Sapnap are now screaming the lyrics while I'm running over zombies with a stolen car.

"My turn to pick, Gogy." Sapnap turns on "How to Save a Life" and now he and George are swaying while singing the lyrics and I can't help but smile and sing with them. I love them so much.

They start fighting over each other's music taste and who gets to pick the next song.

"If you two don't stop arguing, I will turn this car around and we will go straight back to the basement and I will kill you both." The both went quiet after that and then bursted into a fit of laughter.

"Now put on Jesus in LA." I look back at the road now since we are almost there and roll down all the already smashed windows. Sapnap's hair is now covering his eyes while he sings and he keeps sticking his tongue out at George since he thinks I can't see him.

The needle is right there now and we have five minutes to get to the top.

Shit.

"We got to hurry."

I hop out of the car and grab the keys. Sapnap and George hop out and walk over to me. I grab their hands and I lead the way to get inside. I put a finger to my lips so they know to not make any loud sounds.

The inside of the place looks like it was a base to somebody. The windows are boarded up and the doorways are all blocked off except for the one that we came through. I walk over the stairwell and to my surprise the stairs are all knocked out and instead there is a ladder and a fire pole.

This climb is gonna be awful. I start climbing and I feel like I'm gonna die and we aren't even a quarter up. I can hear George cussing out whoever built this under his breath and Sapnap doing the same but in Greek.

Thankfully, there is a small platform for us to take a break at the halfway point. There is a door and I'm hoping it leads to the roof, but it only leads to an elevator which is close enough.

I don't wait to catch my breath since we can do it on the elevator. I wait for George and Sap to get in the elevator and press the roof button.

We are on floor 25 out of a 100.

We are gonna be here for a while.
