Heeseung got rejected by Youngjae!”

I stared at my brother's phone in terror. Someone had seen me and Heeseung having a private conversation in the deserted hallway the previous day and snapped a couple of pictures, with a short video which was perfectly taken the moment when I said that we should only stay as a junior and senior. It was clear that anyone who saw that short clip had misheard the conversation. The pictures showed me and Heeseung chatting and several shots of his dumbfounded expression. I slapped my forehead and winced, at the pain and the false news. “Were you two really talking about your hatred towards each other?” Youngbin queried, pulling away his phone and switching it off. “Yes! They just seemed to catch the moment when I said that I didn't want to be anything except for schoolmates. He asked me if we could become friends.”

He folded his arms. “But you said that you didn't do or say anything to upset him yesterday. Why did you lie?” I sighed in frustration. “I didn't want you to know that I didn't want to become friends with your best buddy. Plus, I thought it would make him come off as childish if I told you the truth.” He shook his head. “This rumor won't die down any soon. Almost everyone knows that you're with Jake, and to hear the false news about Heeseung confessing his feelings to you, everything got more interesting to everyone in the school, you know that?” I sighed. “No doubt. What do you think I should do?” I looked at him with pleading eyes. He thought for a moment. “You stay put for the time being. Don't speak a word about it. But if they start bothering you, I'll handle it for you.”

“Youngbin!” Heeseung shouted from a distance and ran to us. “You're also wearing a mask, I see.” I sneered. He rolled his eyes. “You're the one who caused this, you know?” He spat, quite mad. He released a frustrated sigh before looking at Youngbin. “Do you have any plans?” “Not yet, just that you two should not speak anything about it.” “He'll handle it if the students bother us about it.” I butted in. “Don't you think we should handle this on our own though?” Heeseung asked. I vigorously shook my head. “Youngjae's not the type to handle these kind of stuff with no problem. It's better if I clear it off for you two.” It was quiet for some time. “Do you often do this when she gets in trouble?” “Hey!” I shot him a glare. Youngbin chuckled. “Always, actually.” “I can imagine.” The two boys laughed off mockingly.

“It won't be good if they see you two entering the school compound together. Youngjae, go and catch up with Jake and make sure you tell him the truth and plan before he cries and breaks up with you.” “What the actual—” I got pushed from the back before I could use profanity. “Don't curse. Now, hurry and go on.” I frowned behind my mask and skipped away from the two of them. To my surprise, Jake wasn't around the gate like other days. I cursed under my breath and ran inside the building in a flash. He's probably overthinking and sulking over it. I sighed softly and took a turn to reach my classroom. I panted as I stumbled to the entrance of the classroom. I looked inside the class to see that several students were already in there. He sat there, putting his head down on the table.

I felt my heart sink as I saw him. I hesitantly took off my mask as I walked to him. Some students were staring at me as they started to notice my presence inside the room. “Jaeyun.” I called out. He reluctantly faced my side, no expression displayed on his face. My lips formed a thin line. “Can we talk? Somewhere more private?” I softly spoke. I highly doubted that he'd say yes but he nodded and stood up. “Lead the way.” I was gonna hold his hand but then I noticed it wasn't a great timing to do that. I grimaced and started walking out from the classroom. I could sense some students following us. I anxiously looked around before I abruptly grabbed his wrist and started running off to who knew where to lose the students who were stalking us. He straggled on the way behind me, flustered.

I observed our surroundings as he panted on my side. “It seems to be clear here. Okay, so— can I start?” I worriedly looked at him. He nodded. “Don't worry about me. Just say what you have to say before they spot us here.” I took a deep breath before I started explaining everything to him in a minute. He blinked, processing everything what I had just said. “Oh~” He finally exclaimed. I nervously bit my bottom lip. He folded his arms. “You still lied to me.” He furrowed his eyebrows. I winced. “I know, and I'm sorry for that. I'm supposed to tell you everything and trust you like how you trust me but...” I trailed off. “...never mind. I don't even know why I didn't want to tell you. Can you just forget about it and go along the plan with me?” I begged. He sighed and nodded.

They all obediently listened to me as I softly spoke to them. “I felt something was off too.” Sunoo stated. “Did you two make up already?” Jay asked. “Yes.” “No.” I looked at him in shock. “I thought you'd forget about it.” “Well, I lied. How do you feel?” He nonchalantly asked. I stared at him in disbelief. Sunoo cautiously looked at Sunghoon, whose jaw was dropped at our sudden cold conversations with each other. Meanwhile, Jay had his lunch as he watched the drama. Jake continued to have his lunch, not giving a damn about his surroundings. I furrowed my eyebrows as I started boiling up. I wasn't sure if I wanted to yell at him or break into tears because I just got into my first fight with my boyfriend. I formed my lips into a thin line, contemplating whether I should pick the first or second option.
