“Wait, Heeseung, you can drive?” Youngbin asked in surprise.

“Uhm, I guess so?” Heeseung chuckled before starting the car.

“But do you have a driving licence?” He asked.

“Yesn't.”

“Stop putting two words together, it's irritating,” Youngbin sighed before leaning back and browsing through his phone like usual.

I sat at the back seat, alone, while the parents were in another car. They're probably talking about us or politics. I sighed before taking out my phone.

I immediately got a message from Jay, telling me that he might have told Jake something and that he was on his way to my place. My eyes widened and told him that I had just left the house with the rest in a rush, making some typos.

He apologised and let me know in advance that I was going to get a call from Jake any time soon. Did he tell him that I was going to break up with him?

Heeseung glanced at me from the mirror before focusing on the road. I released a nervous sigh before putting away my phone and looking out, thinking of other possible things Jay could've told Jake.

I was so deep in my thoughts that it made me flinch when my phone started ringing a few minutes later.

“Jeez, you're such a scaredy cat,” Youngbin snickered.

I rolled my eyes at him before picking it up, “Yes, Jake?”

Youngbin immediately turned around to face me, wishing me to put it on speaker. I shook my head while listening to the person on the other line.

“Youngjae, you have to explain what's going on with you and Heeseung,” were his first words, unlike other times when he called me.

“Nothing's going on, why are you asking?”

“First, it's the rumour, second, it's you telling Sunghoon that you'd chose him over me and now it's you planning to break up with me? What's all this, Youngjae? You're really making me question about your feelings for me.”

“Jake, listen—”

“Do you think I would just sit idly like other days when I hear all of these? No, I don't think so. I maybe acting childishly right now but I can't accept the fact that you decided to break up with me for the little incident a few days ago,” he spat, quite furious.

I was wrong for thinking he'd take this gently. I sighed and formed my lips into a thin line.

“It doesn't make any sense, Youngjae. Please, are you sure about this?” He finally stopped venting.

“Okay, listen...first of all, I didn't expect for you to act this way. About the rumour, forget it. It's not true and we both clearly know that. I don't know if Jay told you or not that me picking Hee—” I paused as I glanced at Youngbin, “—him over you and Sunghoon was just to keep Sunghoon from asking further questions and the break up, that's true. It's just not because of the cafeteria incident though.”

“Then what?”

“I'm sorry but I can't think of you more than just a friend. It's better if we stay as friends.”

“You do know that you're going to end our friendship as well if we break up, right?”

“No— Jake, please, I beg of you. Can't you just understand? There's no way we will ever be able to work things out. Plus, this is just our first step of being in a relationship with someone, not everything can start off perfectly at once.”

He released a long sigh before speaking, “You're probably right. I'm overacting right now...but, don't expect me to speak to you for a few days. I still need to think this through.”

He abruptly hung up and I frowned, looking at the screen of my phone.

“Finally broke up, yeah?” Youngbin pouted.

My lips quivered and I quickly looked out to stop myself from holding in my tears, “Don't talk to me.”

Youngbin frowned before sitting properly, “That was actually a good way to tell him everything. I thought you were older than me for a second there.”

“This place? Again?” I furrowed my eyebrows as soon as we reached our destination. It was that place from one year ago. The place where Heeseung... I turned towards him, who was simply smiling and listening to the parents who were busy talking to him.

I envied him for being able to smile like that. I couldn't even put on a fake one as I was really bummed out by my first ever break up. My heart felt heavy and it felt like something was stuck in my esophagus.

“Don't you wish it was nighttime too?” Youngbin asked as soon as he noticed me frowning.

“Why?” I plainly asked.

“So that you could cry your eyes out while everyone else is asleep.”

I sighed, “Try helping me forget about it, not the other way round.”

“My bad...” he raised his hands and backed away.

I was minding my own business when Heeseung walked up to me, “How are you feeling?”

“Can you guess how I'm feeling?”

“Depressed, pissed off and wants to be left alone, right?”

“Yup. Now leave.”

“There's no way I'm doing that. You need someone to lend an ear to you. I'm right here,” he spoke.

“Bold of you to assume that I would talk about my feelings to a goddamn vampire who's always ready to kill anyone.”

“Fine, if you don't want to, not my problem. Just letting you know that I'll always be free to listen,” he spoke with a small pout and walked away.

I glanced at him. He has been acting really strange. I squinted my eyes before continuing to mind my own business.

“Youngjae, I can't believe you did that to him. Didn't you at least feel bad for him?” Sunoo said from the other line.

“I'm sorry,” I sighed.

“He really can't stop crying, you know? You should apologise to him,” Sunghoon joined in.

“I'm sorry.”

“I know that a part of it was my fault but you could've at least postponed the breaking up part,” Jay added.

“I'm sorry.”

It sounded like all three of them had visited Jake to see how he was handling his first break up. He'll get over it in a week or two, I shouldn't worry about it that much. The boys continued to scold me for not thinking twice.

“So irritating,” I complained as soon as I hung up and left my phone on the stool as I stood up to stretch my legs.

“Where are you going?” Heeseung asked as he stood up from his seat as well.

“Wait, have you been sitting there the whole time?”

“Uh...yeah. Where are you going though?”

“Somewhere. Stalk me if you're worried about me,” I coolly shrugged before walking off.

He chuckled before following me behind, “How are you so sure that I won't be planning to kill you once we're alone?”

“Simple, you're a wussy.”
