“I'm so sorry, I truly am. I shouldn't have acted like that and should've just ignored your attitude.” All four of them kept quiet after I confessed in the deserted room. Jake looked away, catching Sunghoon's attention. “Honestly, I think it's Jake's fault for acting like this in the first place. I mean, she already apologized but he still continued to be stubborn. So I think he's the one who should be apologizing instead of Youngjae.” He stated. Jay and Sunoo stood there, thinking deeply. Jake scoffed out loud and eyed Sunghoon. “Look at you, defending your crush.” We all arched our eyebrows at his sudden words. “I'm not defending her because of that. It's because you're being really childish right now.” “Woah~ childish? Look who's talking.” Jake continued to mock. Sunghoon looked extremely irritated by his friend's way of talking. Sunoo uncomfortably watched the scene. “You really like her?”
“It's not a good time to talk about it, Sunoo.” Sunghoon spoke. “Why is it not a good time to talk about that? Come on, we can start from the day you started having feelings for Youngjae till the day you confessed that you had a crush on my girlfriend—which was, by the way, yesterday.” Jake said in a sarcastic tone. “Shut your mouth, Jaeyun.” Sunghoon demanded. “I can't seem to know the reason why I should keep my mouth shut.” Jake continued, keeping Sunghoon on the edge of losing his temper. “Don't make me hurt you.” He warned. “You already did. So here is my response to your question yesterday.” Before anyone could move an inch, he blew a punch on Sunghoon's face, making him stumble backwards and trip. Sunoo and I gasped before helping Sunghoon while Jay ran to Jake and stopped him before making further chaos.
Sunghoon held the spot where Jake had hit with disbelief in his eyes. Where had the innocent and heartwarming Jaeyun gone? He fumbled up and was ready to attack him back when Heeseung popped out of nowhere and abruptly pulled him back before he could lunge at the latter. “Let me go!” He yelled but Heeseung was way stronger than he was that he didn't even move an inch forward from where he was standing. Jay seemed to have calmed down Jake at the other end of the room. “What happened in here?” Youngbin made his appearance in the room and looked around, directly spotting Sunghoon's bruised cheek. “Are you okay?” Sunghoon pushed away Heeseung and left the room without saying a word. Everyone stayed silent and I released a sigh before following Sunghoon. That day couldn't be any worse. If those two fight, it's the end of the day.
I was busy searching for Sunghoon when someone grabbed my arm from walking further. “Why do you always pop out of nowhere?” I shook off his arm. “I don't think it's a good idea to comfort Sunghoon right now.” He stated. “Why not?” “You don't know?” “What do I don't know?” “This can lead to a break up.” “Do you think I care about that right now?” “But are you sure you want to focus on someone who has a crush on you instead of your boyfriend?” “He got injured because of Jake, please. I need to apologize in behalf of him.” “You know that that apology could lead to something else, don't you?” “It's not like I'm not going to leave Jake even if he begs with his knees on the floor. Geez, you overthink more than I do.” “I just don't want you to break up with Jake.”
I stared at him. “Why though? You two don't seem to be that close.” “It's complicated. Plus, you might find it weird.” “Makes sense. Now leave me alone so that I can search for Sunghoon. You're catching attention again.” “You have to promise that you won't end up with Sunghoon first.” I blinked in confusion. “I don't know what problem you have with him but okay, I promise. Now disperse.” I gestured him to go away before turning in my heels and continuing my quest to find Sunghoon. I had a feeling that he would be outside of the school building but that was before someone told me where he really was. I weirdly looked at the student and thanked him before rushing towards the restroom. How did he know I was searching for him? I pushed open the door, not caring if it was the boys' restroom or not.
“I searched for you everywhere. What are you doing here?” I spoke after spotting him staring at his reflection in the mirror. “Does the bruise look that bad?” He asked. I released a breath and walked in further to take a clearer look of his face. “It's noticeable but you can excuse yourself by saying that you accidentally got hit on the face, if the teachers ask.” “By who though?” “Me.” I chuckled a bit. “They'll understand. They all know that I'm violent when I'm around you guys.” “They won't doubt that after seeing you slap Jake like that.” I rolled my eyes. “Anyway, I came to say sorry in behalf of him. It must've hurt.” I grimaced. He slightly pulled up a smile. “It would've hurt more if he used words instead of actions.” I awkwardly looked down at the floor. “So~ you like me, huh?” I chuckled softly.
He hesitated to speak up. “I tried.” He simply said and stood straight. “Answer me something, if you had known that I liked you before you and Jake hit it off, would you agree to going out with me?” “Uh...that's unexpected but.” I released a nervous laugh. “Who knows? You were my favourite even before we met in real life and Jake was always there for me, it's hard to answer.” Everything went silent. I formed my lips into a thin line. “What about now?” “Huh?” My head perked up. “After everything that had happened, who do you choose?” My heart skipped a beat. I never expected to be in that position. Two best friends fighting over the same girl, things could go really ugly. I didn't want to be the reason their friendship got torn apart. “If that's the case...” I trailed off. “...I'd choose none of you.”
