“So, where exactly are we going?” Heeseung asked.
“I don't know. I hope you remember the way back, I'm depending on you.”
“I basically live around here so you don't have to be worried, I guess,” he shrugged.
“Oh, you actually live in the woods?” I asked in a mocking tone.
“It's a lot better than living in the city with lots of toxic people.”
“Dang...you have a point though.”
We walked in silence and the only sound audible was the dry leaves we were stepping on as we walked.
“How are you handling it?” He asked out of the blue.
“Oh, uh...well,” I hesitated, “I feel great but...everything is wearing me out.”
“You know that you don't always have to put on a poker face and act like you're fine, right?”
“I mean, why are they getting mad at me for breaking up with him and making him cry? Why am I even surprised? Of course, they'll side with him because he's a boy. I knew there would come a time when they won't be able to relate to me since I'm a girl.”
Heeseung gently smiled as he continued to watch me rant.
“If they understood how I felt, they would have comforted me instead,” I finally stopped, a big frown displayed on my face.
He sighed and shook his head, “They'll figure that out by themselves later and get on good terms with you again. You guys have been friends for a long time, haven't you been in a situation like this before?”
I hesitantly shook my head, “There were times when we would argue about something minor and make up at the end of the day. But I don't think there ever was a moment when we were in a complicated situation like this.”
He hummed and nodded while walking beside me. We walked in silence once again, the moonlight shining our way through the dark forest. He soon took the lead without me noticing and led me to a nearby pond.
“Oh wow, look at the stars...” I spoke in amazement as I looked up at the sky.
He merely grinned and stared at me before looking up as well, “You were looking up like this the first time I saw you.”
I scoffed and crouched down to touch the water, “Oh, right. Since we're alone and have all the night to ourselves, why don't we talk about you?”
“Me, huh?”
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Hmm...I clearly remember you saying that you didn't want to know anything about me...?”
I furrowed my eyebrows, “Well I don't remember saying that to you so it doesn't count. You said it yourself that you wanted to talk about it in person.”
He chuckled, “Alright. Have I told you that your mother made a deal with my mother?”
“Seriously? No, you haven't told me about that. What was it?”
“It's true that she and my mother are good friends. Your mother felt extremely bad for her when my father passed away, although that brat never did anything to help us live a normal life. He was the reason why I didn't have any bloodlust until you came along. She said that she would give you, her daughter, to me so that I won't grow up weak.”
“What?! Like...sacrificing?!” I exclaimed.
“You still turned out to be my soulmate so it's alright—”
“Your what?” My eyes widened as I got extremely timid.
He chuckled, “We'll get to that later on. So, it was all their plan to go on a family camping that day. I made a teeny tiny mistake when I bit you.”
“Is it related to the mark you left?”
“Yeah~ it was my first time and I didn't know how it worked so I bit quite hard.”
“How come I didn't wake up?”
“Remember when your mother told you to get a specific container back then?”
“No...you must be kidding,” I slightly backed away.
“If you think it contained a drug that made you sleep through the pain, yes, you're right. It was an unforgettable night,” he smiled nonchalantly.
“You're weird. Mine was...the first— second time you bit me. It's still stuck in my head and I can still feel it,” I held my shoulder and shivered.
“You can admit that you liked it, you know?”
“No, that'll sound strange. So tell me about the "soulmate" thing.”
“Okay, did you hurt yourself while you still had the mark?” He asked quite anxiously.
I laughed, “I had to make my shoulder bleed so that it won't hurt anymore. You could know that?”
He blinked, “It's just a vampire thing. We can smell our other halves if they're bleeding...”
“How about when I'm on my period?”
“No, except for that one. It'd be weird if it actually happened.”
I cackled, “Yeah, it would've occured too many times,” I looked down at the pond and stared at my own reflection before looking at his reflection. He was looking at me in adoration. I pulled up a smile.
“If we're soulmates, what are you going to do with that girl from school?” I asked quite reluctantly.
“Don't worry about her. She's not who you think she is. She's actually one of us who morphed into one of the students to make sure I don't do anything stupid.”
I looked up at him, “Really?”
“Really. Why? Were you jealous?” He smirked.
I scoffed, “Like I would be.”
“Come on, don't always be in denial. I know you like me too.”
I smiled before leaning on him, “So, is this who you really are?”
“What do you mean?”
“Arrogant but also compassionate as heck?”
He furrowed his eyebrows, “How am I arrogant?”
I giggled at his confusion and released a breath. He pulled me closer and tighter, “You sure do recover fast from a break up.”
We laughed and continued to chat under the moonlight, enjoying each other's company.

Heeseung was admiring the sky when he heard soft snores coming from his side. Youngjae was already in a deep sleep and was leaning on him comfortably.
“You must be tired,” he muttered before carrying her and walking back to the others.
“Oh, you two got along?” Youngbin asked when he saw Heeseung carrying Youngjae on his arms.
“I guess so. Where should I lay her down?” He asked softly and Youngbin quickly gestured to a particular tent.
Heeseung carefully laid her down and covered her with a warm blanket before he could wake her up from her peaceful slumber.
His mother walked up to him discreetly, “What did she say?”
He simply nodded, “She's in.”
