I heaved a low sigh staring at the ceiling. I was in my room, on the floor, just looking up. Yo, my name is Aria, I'm seventeen, as of today.
Let me tell you a little about myself, I'm honest, according to other people, brutally so. I'm slightly confused as to why people insist I hold back though. After all, I'm just telling the truth.
I either say what I want, or don't speak. I have days where I refuse to talk, or just can't. That's just how I am.
I have brown hair and golden eyes, I'm kinda short, but not extremely so. I'm... a strange person.
I can see things other people can't, but I haven't in awhile, and I plan to keep it that way.
"Aria! Come help decorate!" Sora shouted opening my door and grinning at me. "On the floor? Get your lazy ass out here!"
I glanced at her. "I don't want too."
Sora placed her hands on her hips. "Why not?! Its your birthday! I got cake, Ice cream, presents, and I even put up a banner!"
I looked away. "I just don't feel like it is all."
Sora frowned worried and pursed her lips. Suddenly her eyes lit up. As a creak was heard I watched Sora walk in and sit on the floor beside me.
"Reagan is coming home today, from his conference."
I sat up surprise. "Really? I thought he was going to be gone another two days."
Sora smiled. "He finished early to make it time for your birthday, it was supposed to be a surprise, so when he comes, act surprised."
I looked down at my lap smiling slightly.
Reagan was by far one of my favorites. I considered him like a dad. Rowan was kind of like a crazy uncle, and Carrots- don't get me started.
Roman though -
"Hey, baby, did you need any help?" I went still as Roman knocked on my open door looking at Sora.
She smiled sweetly. She was always sweet. And sassy. "No, I've got it, but you're going to help me finish, right Aria?" I said nothing to this.
After a moment, "Help your mother Aria, you aren't doing anything anyway." Roman told me sternly.
I glanced at him and stood. Sora smiled and clapped her hands. "Great, let's go then." Sora jumped up and kissed Roman on the lips before skipping into the living room.
I didn't meet Romans eyes as I stepped past him. Roman sighed and grabbed my shoulder. I went stiff and refused to look at him as he spoke.
"Happy birthday Aria."
I just stood still until he grew frustrated. "At least answer me, can't you do that much?"
"Yes." I said simply and didn't move a muscle until he finally let go.
I walked slowly into the living room and didn't really even notice the balloons or confetti. My eyes were on the oreo cake on the kitchen counter.
I walked over and smiled staring at the cookies on top. Sora walked by holding flowers. "Don't touch it until tonight." I looked up at her.
"I won't."
She smiled and kissed the top of my head. "I know you won't, just habit I guess. Brianna would have her hands in the whole thing if she could."
Brianna was Sora's actual daughter, she had red curly hair, and Reagan's big brown eyes.
I watched Sora open the fridge, and frowned when the front door slammed open. Sora slammed the fridge closed and turned. "Whoever slammed that door better get their ass in here!"
Carrots walked in sheepishly and dropped a hand full of groceries on the counter. "Sorry Sora."
She pursed her lips. "You're setting a bad example for the kids."
Carrots gave her an amused smile. "Uhhu," He said and turned to me grinning. "How do you feel today Aria? Happy birthday!"
I tilted my head to the side. "It feels like another day. But with my favorite cake."
Carrots laughed and glanced at the cake. "Indeed, I figured you would say that. Is Rowan home yet?"
Sora shook her head blowing up one last balloon. She spoke as she tied it. "No, he's picking up Reyland from football practice."
Reyland, Sora's other child. He was eighteen, and looked just like Roman, acted like him too.
I hopped up on a bar stool and waited, every once and a while glancing at the door impatiently.
Carrots raised an eyebrow and leaned over to Sora. "What's she doing?" He whispered.
Sora smiled and leaned over. "Waiting for Reagan to come home."
I tapped my foot on the ground anxiously, my hands twisting in my lap. The door opened, and my eyes lit up, I jumped off the stool and froze seeing it was a false alarm.
Just Rowan and Reyland.
"We're home! Where's the birthday girl?!" Rowan asked shouting like we weren't in the same room.
I raised my hand wearily. Rowan could be so blind sometimes. "Here I am. In front of you."
He grinned and ruffled my long brown hair. "Happy birthday!"
I nodded and looked at Reyland. He was sweaty, and raised his eyebrows when he saw me staring.
"What?" He asked sharply. My lips twitched.
"Nothing." I said simply.
Reyland rolled his eyes and walked past me. Carrots cleared his throat loudly making Reyland pause. "Happy birthday freak." Reyland snapped after a moment and speedily stormed off when Sora chased after him.
"Reyland Lewis Klent! Get your butt over here and say your sorry!" Sora shouted.
I nibbled on my bottom lip and went still as the door opened once more. A weary Reagan stumbled in dropping his briefcase.
I grinned and ran forward. Reagan easily caught me and smiled. "Aria, happy birthday."
A happy flush came to my cheeks.
"Thank you very much!" Reagan set me down and said something to Carrots, it was missed by me though.
A dark chuckle in the hall made me pause and turn. There was a man, standing in the hallway. His silver eyes met my gold ones, and he winked.
I paused and looked around to see if anyone else was seeing this. I looked back at the black haired silver eyed man frowning.
He grinned and waved, I waved back blinking hard. Rowan frowned. "Aria, who are you waving to?"
I felt my shoulders sag. I did it again.
