A ray of light struck my eyes and I slowly regained my consciousness again. My body felt numb and weak. I only realized now that I'm lying on a hospital bed.

Hindi ko alam kung paano ako nakarating dito. Iginaya ko ang paningin sa paligid. I can see some nurses, doctors, and patients passing by.

I slowly tried to get up from the bed. My head pounded, like it's being hammered to pieces. Napapikit ako sa sakit.

"Victoria," rinig kong may tumawag sa'kin

I was surprised to see Beth. Agad niya akong nilapitan. "Are you okay?" nag-aalala niyang tanong

I gave her a nod. My neck felt stiff. "Y-yeah."

I noticed that the wounds on my arms are now covered in bandages. I tried to recall what happened. My head hurt more. "How...how did I get here?"

"I brought you here. Binalikan kita sa apartment mo," she replied, carefully studying my state

I got back to my senses when I suddenly remembered my baby.

I held my belly. "Wait. My baby. What happened-"

She held my arm. "Don't worry. The doctor said that your baby is fine."

My lips parted. Tumingin ulit ako sa tiyan ko. Biglang may tumulong luha sa mata ko. "Oh, thank God. I thought something happened to her. I can't afford to lose her," pumikit ako ng mariin

"Calm down. She's alright," she comforted and patted my back

I diverted my gaze back to her. "Why...why are you here? How did you brought me here?"

"I went back to your apartment because I forgot something. Nagulat nalang ako noong nakita kita sa sahig, walang malay. Ang dami mo ring galos sa katawan. What happened Tori? Who did this to you? Were you robbed?" sabi niya habang nakatingin sa mga mata ko

Umiwas ako ng tingin. "My ex came back, the father of my child. He...he did this to me." Naramdaman kong may benda na nakapulpot sa ulo ko

She covered in mouth in shock. "Oh my God! I'm sorry. Shit. I didn't know. How could he do this to you? Kung hindi pa ako dumating," she paused. "Kaya pala.."

Kumunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya. "What do you mean?"

Nakita kong nag-iisip siya ng malalim. "May nakasalubong akong isang lalaki. Nakita ko na nagtatanong-tanong siya sa mga tao, mukhang may hinahanap. He approached me and asked me too. Tinanong niya sa'kin kung saan yung apartment mo. At first I thought he was your relative or a family member so I told him. Pagkatapos kong sabihin ay mabilis siyang naglakad papunta roon."

Yumuko ako at bumuntong hininga.

"I'm sorry Tori. I didn't know it was your ex," she apoligized

Umiling ako. "It's not your fault Beth."

"Kaya rin bumalik ako, kasi iba yung pakiramdam ko sa kanya. I just couldn't forget his face. He looks quite intimidating. But when I returned, ikaw nalang yung naabutan ko. I'm really sorry."

"Wala kang kasalanan," sabi ko. "Thank you, for bringing me here. Kung hindi ka bumalik ay baka mas malala pa ang nangyari sa'kin at sa anak ko."

She smiled weakly and nodded. "How are you feeling? God, Tori. Ang lala nung ginawa niya sa'yo. Para kang binugbog. Anong klaseng tao siya? Hindi ba niya inisip yung anak niyo? How can he hurt you knowing that you have a child?"

"I'm used to it but I never thought he'd go this far. I was so scared because I couldn't protect my baby. Hindi naman siya ganito noon e, lumala siya."
