"Think about it, Alice. I have a 2-bedroom flat, and it would help you save for the new place, wouldn't it?"
Alice didn't reply straight away. She was considering her options. It was a tempting offer, and it would only be provisional; she was also getting tired of staying in hotels all the time and could finally eat a homecooked meal.
"But wouldn't you need some rent money?" Alice asked. She was trying to find a reason to refuse it.
"Come on... I make more money than I need, and my parents are rich, I'm sure you know it. So no, I don't need you to pay me anything. Consider it as a favor. I'm sure you would do the same for me."
She would, indeed, do the same for him. She also knew his family was wealthy, but Alice still felt guilty for some reason.
"Ok, you let me buy all the food then and I'll do the cooking."
Lando sighed.
"Yes mama, that's a deal." he extended his hand for a handshake.
"Please don't call me mama..." she complained as she shook his hand.
"Maybe you could iron my shirt for tomorrow's gala!!" Lando suddenly remembered and Alice rolled her eyes. She would soon become his housewife, apparently!
They decided on getting Alice's stuff from the hotel and then go back to Lando's place. She started to get anxious as she had just agreed to move with someone she worked with and had a strange bond with. There was something in between them that she couldn't figure out what it was. Lando was too comfortable around her, and she allowed him more than she would normally allow to anyone else.
She noticed the way he drove, so confidently. She realized that she had never actually seen him drive, other than through tv monitors in a garage. It was sexy. At that moment she imagined what if he parked somewhere dark and far away, would she jump on him? Alice came back to reality quickly and grabbed her phone. She opened her Instagram, only to see a message from JP still open and replied to. JP wrote that he still missed her and hoped she was okay. He said he was sorry for being rude to her when she was in the bar back in January. Alice's heart sank a little bit and she felt sad for a minute. Did she still love JP? She had been so busy lately that she kind of forgot about her feelings and heartbreak. Obviously, Alice now realized what Lando was doing on her phone, because he had replied to JP with a simple FUCK OFF. That expression was now a running joke between them.
"Lando, what did I tell you before about using Fuck off as an argument?"
"Oh, yeah sorry, I forgot to tell you about that..." he laughed. "I recognized the name when the notification came through and well, sorry, couldn't help myself."
"That's okay. JP deserves it, don't worry. Errr... thanks."
That was the kind of thing that Alice wouldn't let anyone else get away it. She would tear someone apart if they even dared to touch her phone, but she didn't feel any anger towards Lando doing it. She even found it endearing the way he remembered and cared for her.
He helped Alice with her suitcase through 5 flights of stairs because, unluckily, the lift in the building was being repaired the moment they arrived. Alice felt that her mother was perhaps in better shape than she was because she was struggling to breathe when they arrived.
"Welcome home, roomie!"
He gave her a quick tour of the flat and Alice finally got to see his infamous 'mancave' that he bragged so much about. She had seen one of his live streamings before, but she didn't care much about games. He showed her bedroom and explained it was the room his family used when they visited. Alice looked around. It had everything she needed and was beautifully decorated.
