40. Everything will be okay in the end

Alice's hands trailed down Lando's bare chest. She just couldn't help herself. He had aged like a fine wine, she observed. His body was now firmer and he was just unbelievably sexy. 

"Good morning..." He said as he squinted his eyes, adjusting to the daylight. She simply smiled at him. She knew that the events from the previous night weren't right. She had a partner waiting for her at home and felt extremely guilty for having just cheated. However, Lando was the love of her life and she would come clean to Andrew once she went back to New Zealand. 

"Are you okay?" Lando asked as he snuggled closer to Alice. He didn't want to let her go again, but he didn't know how to have that conversation. She seemed to have moved on from her past life.

"It's just that I have someone, Lando. It's not fair on him..." Alice said the words but her hands were already in places they shouldn't be touching. Lando moaned when she reached the inside of his thigh. 

"I'm so confused right now..." He said. 

Alice put her index finger over his mouth as she sat on top of him. His eyes widened as she took her baggy t-shirt off and started working on his neck, slowly making her way down his body. She teased him with the tip of her tongue, before moving up again.

"Just have your way with me now." She whispered in his ear.

It was as awkward as one would expect when Alice finally ran into Lando's family. They were all having dinner when she decided it was time to show her face and just own up to what had happened in the past. 

She eyed Vanessa who was still sitting at their table. Lando had told them about Alice working on the ship but didn't mention he had been sleeping with her for the past couple of days.

"We're stuck on high seas... I couldn't just leave the girl on her own." Lando quickly tried to explain himself to Alice. 

"I understand, don't worry." She said touching his hand. 

Somehow it felt like she had been teleported into a parallel world where she was on holiday with Lando and everything was fine. Reality would soon kick in as the cruise was about to end and they would have to return home. 

Alice showed everyone photos and videos of Emilia and promised them they would get to meet her one day. She knew it was safe now for her daughter to meet her father.

It was time to depart the ship. Alice took Lando to one side and kissed him again. In her mind, it would be the last time they would kiss again. 

"I'll miss you!" She said when they were already outside and ready to say their goodbyes. She hugged Lando's family as she needed to head to the airport soon. 

She heard a car honking and looked in the direction of the car park. 

"Holy mac n' cheese balls!" She heard Daniel's loud voice. 

Daniel was picking up Lando for their lad's road trip. Alice teared up a bit when she hugged her old friend. 

That journey had been an emotional rollercoaster and Alice wasn't sure how she was feeling. Suddenly she felt like she wanted her old life back. It was hurting more than she expected to turn her back on Lando again, but she couldn't just abandon her family. Andrew had been her biggest support in the last years and he loved Emilia as if she was his daughter, but Lando also needed a chance to meet and bond with Emilia.
