27. What's Poppin

"Are you ready?" Lando asked popping his head round the bedroom door. They had to be at MTC for their meeting with Human Resources.

Alice had her back turned to Lando and was looking at something inside her bedside table. Lando couldn't see what it was.

"Yes, I am. Let's go." She got up and threw back inside the drawer the object she had been previously holding. She smiled at him but deep down she was concerned as Alice just noticed she had missed more than a week's worth of her birth control pill.

"You look very handsome. Do you have a date afterward?" Alice asked him. Lando had an electric blue button-down shirt and nice tight-fitting jeans. He looked different from his usual black hoodie looks.

"I might..."

She looked at him curiously.

"I mean since we're officially together we've spent the last 3 days at home, just doing it and ordering take-out food. I think it's time I take you on a proper date." He said.

"And you choose to tell me this now? When I don't have time to change into something more date-like?"

"You look great. Wish you were naked though"

"Yeah, that would cause an impression on our already very impressed boss."

She had a casual summer yellow dress on as the weather was warm. She didn't need to use an uniform when working from the headquarters.

"Are you nervous about that?"

"A little bit. I can't afford to lose my job..."

"I told you many times I wouldn't let that happen. Trust me. By the way, I have a little something for you..." Lando said as he took a paper out of his car glove compartment. He handed it to Alice. It took her a while to figure out what it was.

"This is your insurance, isn't it?"

"Yeah, I've added you to my car insurance. Now you can drive any of my cars when you need it!"

"Lando! You need to stop giving me stuff! I just can't give anything like this back!" She exclaimed but she wasn't upset. Alice knew he didn't want anything in return.

"You could give me a ride now. Kind of sick and tired of driving all the time!" He said as they swapped places and Alice got behind the wheel of his McLaren road car.

The meeting was as awkward as one would expect. They even got Daniel to make an appearance via Zoom, just in case Alice changed her mind and decided to give it a try with another fellow F1 driver.
They basically had to sign a bunch of paperwork that they would act professionally at all times and wouldn't let their relatives interfere with the business by any means. They also had to sign a consensual relationship policy agreement, where they also had to let their employer know if they broke up.

They went on separate ways afterwards as Alice had some office duties with Charlotte and Lando had to be with some of the engineers for car testing.

"I'm happy that you finally decided to get together. I hope it works out and just please be careful. Don't do anything stupid when the two of you get into those silly arguments." Charlotte advised.

Alice and Lando were know for butting heads every now and then, but her relationship with Daniel was more relaxed. They always a good vibe going on. Lando was different. He would talk back and purposely ignore her directions when he wasn't in the mood or when they didn't agree on something.
