Charles reacted quickly and pulled Danny out of the water. He seemed to have regained consciousness and was looking around confused as if  that last bit before he fell had been erased from his mind.

"Shit. Are you okay? Should I call an ambulance?" Alice asked him as she kneeled before him.

"No, no. I'll be fine. It's probably just low blood pressure."

The rest of the group had now gathered outside and there were exchanging concerned looks.

"I still think you should get checked."

"Damn it Alice. The guy said he's fine, leave him alone ffs." Blake shouted surprising Alice.

"Dude, don't talk to her like that." Lando intervened. "Besides, she's right. You should go to a hospital. Last thing you want is this to happen while you're in a racing car."

Alice checked on Blake for a moment as he wasn't usually rude or that stressed out. She had her suspicions. He had bloodshot eyes and was looking overly paranoid. She was sure that alcohol wasn't the only thing they were consuming.
She took Lando aside before he kept pushing on taking his teammate to the hospital. Alice had a bit of PR to do at that moment. The last thing they needed was for a toxic report to come back positive and Daniel was already going through a rough patch, she didn't want him to get into trouble.

"Don't mention anything but he's high right now." Alice said quietly to Lando. "I'll go check something..."

Lando followed her as she headed to Daniel's room. She got in and went through their stuff. She didn't care if they would be upset or not but she had to take care of of her client but most importantly, of her friend. She rummaged their clothes and their drawers but couldn't find anything. Then she slipped her hand in the pillowcase, finding a very suspicious little bag. She showed Lando.

"Here it is."

"How did you think of that?"

"Let's say I've done a lot of stupid stuff in the 29 years I've lived."

Lando eyed her suspiciously.

"What the hell were they thinking? I don't give a shit if he wants to do drugs when he's home alone, but not when we're all together. That shit's not on."

Lando had a point. They could all get into trouble and become associated with a case involving heavy drugs. She wasn't sure if she should disclose the conversation she had with Danny the night before about the breakup. They had just agreed on being in a relationship, with a due date, so she might as well start trusting him.

"He's feeling down because he broke up with Jemma. He was in bad shape yesterday. That's why we stayed behind when you guys went to sit on the beach."

"That's unfortunate, but I don't think he needs to be doing this."

"Hopefully it's just a one off." Alice said as she emptied the bag in the toilet and flushed. Afterwards she went into the laundry room and covered the bag in bleach before binning it. She needed to get rid of any evidence.
She went back outside to check on Danny. He was resting and thankfully the other guys had taken the alcohol away.

•••••

The events with Daniel earlier had put a damp on everyone's mood even when Alice and Lando decided to pretend they hadn't found and disposed of the drugs. Sometimes ignorance really was bliss.
They had all gone their separate ways back home.
Lando and Alice flew back together to England. Things with Charles were a little bit awkward and they didn't talk again after they decided to end their little affair. She hoped he wouldn't stop talking to her at all, as she liked him as a friend, despite Lando's reluctance on that field.
As Lando was checking the mailbox, Alice went in the flat. She closed the door while she checked something on her phone.
