Kawashi crepted into Sho's hospital room, he had never been in a hospital let alone a room with monitors and wires. He slowly approached the bed feeling as if he were too loud it would startle his naturally jumpy friend.
The young alpha wrinkled his nose, the sterile scents of the hospital put him on edge. "Sho?" Kawashi whispered, the room buzzed with machines and a steady beeping, the lights had been dimmed. Kawashi bit the inside of his cheek, Sho looked so tiny in the hospital bed. An oxygen mask covered his nose and mouth.
Kawashi examined the smaller boy's hand, an IV bruised the omega's fair skin just behind his knuckles.
"Idiot." Kawashi reached out to take the delicate looking fingers, the same hand that spiked with such accuracy. The same smooth hand that often tugged on Kawashi's jersey to get the alpha's attention. Sometimes those thin fingers would tangle in the alpha's jersey or uniform front when Sho was having a panic attack and Kawashi would hold Sho to his shoulder and the orangette clung to his chest.
"You can't just come back to leave. You already left without me once. We are a team." Kawashi held the warm hand in his carefully avoiding the IV.
"Ssorry-" a small voice breathlessly replied with a soft groan and squeezing the young setter's hand barely gripping , the young alpha wiped at the tears with his free hand. "You scared the shit out of everyone. And me! And me-"
"Sor-sorry" the boy turned his wide eyes trying to focus on his friend, he blinked as streams of tears trailed down his temple to pool on his white pillow case.
"Idiot." Kawashi quickly used his hoodie sleeve to wipe his friend's eyes. "Stop saying sorry." Kawashi sniffed, "Just get better." The alpha's eyes fell on the bruises around his friend's chin, he held back his anger. He knew something had happened to Sho but Kawashi would need to wait to hear that story.
"Thank you." Sho took a shuttered breath, he smiled under his oxygen mask, his chest barely raising. The room felt too big with the weak raspy breathing of the small omega nearly drowned out by the buzz and hiss of oxygen and machines monitoring everything.
"For what?" Kawashi bit the inside of his cheek, hating that he couldn't smell the sweet scent of cinnamon and apples.
"I-last time I woke up alone in-in the hospital. I was scared and scent blind- no one came. I thought I was thrown away. " More tears broke past the boy's fair lashes. Sho didn't try to hide his emotions, he was too tired and everything felt heavy.
Kawashi took off his hoodie, it was a mix of Tsukishima Ryuu, Tadaki and now Kawashi's scents. Mostly Kawashi's but the boy laid it over his friend's still form. Too still, Sho was always moving, he was pure sunlight and energy but he was too paused.
The dark haired boy climbed into the bed, kicking off his shoes he was careful to not jostle his friend. The younger boy giggled coughing dryly. The bed was set at an angle and the taller boy easily held his friend. The heart monitor beeped with a betraying quick rhythm.
"Use this. It stinks a little like the twins and me, but more me I think. Just keep it till you get out. I'm sure Ryuu-kun won't mind. He made me wear it so it serves him right."
Again the boy blinked, a soft giggle bubbling forward but some color returned to his cheeks.
"I like you." Kawashi whispered, looking forward with a scowl. He focused on something near the window's drawn grey curtains.
"I like you too." Sho hummed, turning his face into the alpha's chest. He pulled his mask down taking an unsteady breath wanting to scent and be scented. He broke into a fit of coughing.
