Another week went by.

I stood in Tubbo's room in my usual position.

"Tubbo please wake up. I don't think I can go on without you." I pleaded, knowing he still couldn't hear me.

That's when it happened.

"Tommy?" Tubbo asked as he opened his eyes.

"Tubbo?!" I shouted. I couldn't believe he was actually awake. I started to tear up.

Things can finally go back to normal! We can finally go back to normal!

"I love you Tommy! Thanks for being a great friend." Tubbo coughed then closed his eyes again.

The line on the heart monitor flattened.

No this can't be happening. He just woke up.

Before I knew it I was being ushered out of the room, as it filled with doctors, and back in the waiting room.

After decades of waiting a nurse came out holding a clipboard.

I couldn't make out what she was saying, but caught one sentence that would haunt me the rest of my life.

"Toby Smith, time of death 5:00pm, June 21st, 2021."

I ran out of the waiting room and out of the hospital, not paying attention to where I was going or who was yelling after me.

I didn't care, I just needed to get out of there.

My Tubbo's not dead.

I repeated the sentence to myself.

He's not dead. He can't be.

He can't be, he just talked to me.

It wasn't supposed to end like this.

I stopped realizing I was on a bridge.

I stood there contemplating.

Life is weird isn't it.

Some people get second chances. Some people wake up.

Some people don't.

Some people figure out what's wrong and get help.

Some people don't.

It wasn't supposed to end like this.

I leaned back, letting myself fall.

Some people don't.

Some people just don't.

Everything went black as Tommy joined the group of people that just don't.
