L.L

It has been two weeks since we had been stranded here. I've lost count to how many times Loki had seen me naked in the waters as I bath or wash my clothes.

It was disgusting. But he just mischievously sparkle and smile. I would open up to him a little during meal times just to get to know Loki's background more in exchange. But this ended up on us having daily conversations. Loki had realised it too, I was giving less cold and hard responses to his questions, and even found myself explaining more than I should.

Connections are the roots of failures. This sentence blurred out of my mind ever since we got here. For once I was alone, for once I was free. Free from everyone who showed high expectations from me. Free from everyone who wanted to control me.

I looked at Loki. Who had followed me for hunting. Ever since he claimed that he didn't want the same animal for every meal he had tagged along to be picky about it.

He had a small smile on his face as he walked beside me. It looked genuine. I wish I had a reason to smile without command one day.

"Do you think there would be rabbits here?"

I looked at him with judging eyes.

"Kidding! Jeez you're so scary sometimes Taro." Loki teased.

"Stop calling me that." I glared at him. What a dumb nickname. "And what do you mean by sometimes?"

"Come on you don't think you can scare the god of mischief can you?"

I snorted at the comment and tighten my ponytail. "Is all these small talk just to mess with me? Or you think you could charm your way to make me work along side you to rule earth."

Loki acted a look of guilt. "Look at that, you caught me." He said sarcastically. "You'd be a good asset to me though."

"In terms of killing thousands?"

"Hmm maybe a queen next to my throne in Midgard could do me wonders.." Loki stroked my cheek.

I slapped his hand off. "Stop it."

Loki laughed at my reaction and retreated his hand.

"Do I have to impress you in order to win your heart my lady?"

"Maybe if you catch dinner tonight by yourself I might consider it, god." I crossed my arm and looked at the god. He was tall up close, I never realised that.

"How cute. A challenge to win the heart of a maiden. Thor always win at those." He grumbled that last line. "I accept. Dinner will be served."

"Where's my prize maiden?"

"Loki you took 30 minutes to chase a boar which I would have hunted down in 10 seconds flat."

"But I caught it!" Loki whined like a child as he paced up to keep my speed. Even with a huge boar being dragged behind my back, I was walking much faster than the god. "I deserve my end of the bargain."

"Alright. I'd say I consider. So I have considered that the answer is no." I smirked. Loki sighed.

"You're absurd. At least tell me something about you." Loki said as we continued to walk side by side towards our camp. "Tell me why you can't catch feelings."

I kept a long pause. Then answered. "That's easy. It's because it's true."

"Taro come on." I rolled my eyes at that stupid name. "Sure you're cold most of the time but you still have some emotions right?"

I kept silent.

"Emotions.." I mumbled. Loki looked at me as I spoke. "Having emotions means I have already failed."

"Failed what?"

"My sensei." I didn't pay attention to Loki, my eyes locked forward as we walked. "Showing emotions is the first step to failure of a being who kills for a living."

Loki agreed. He himself had not shown any emotion whilst conquering Midgard. Showing them makes him look weak and is easily manipulated and betrayed. He had many experiences with those feelings in the past.

"You get what I mean. Hearing about your past about your battles of you and Thor, it make sense that you'd have the same opinion. No matter if it's a small brawl or a big competition. He'd always win against you."

Loki stayed silent for the first time, he didn't gave any remark. It was the truth, and it was hitting him like a truck.

"We're the same." Loki stated.

"We're not." I snapped back. "You will never know what I've been through."

"Then tell me." Loki replied gently. I still couldn't understand why he was so curious about my past. I never told anyone, what makes him think that I'd tell a criminal?

"What purpose would it serve to give you information about my past? You want to manipulate me? Maybe implant some horrid memories into my mind?"

Loki looked down, as if sad that he couldn't earn my trust.

This is a trick. I thought. An illusion to get me to tell him. But the emotion still somewhat seem... genuine. It shouldn't, he's the god of lies after all.

"What can I do to make you open up to me?" I felt Loki's eyes on me from behind. We were almost reaching the hut, I can finally escape this conversation. But for how long can I keep running away?

"Tell me why do you want to know about my past. Tell me the truth."

"There... isn't any purpose Maki. Not everything must have a purpose." He placed a hand on my shoulder. For once, I let him. "I just wanted to know the girl who I've been stuck with for two weeks a little more."

I took in the feeling of his hand on my bare shoulder a little longer. Loki held it gently, rubbing it in small circles with his thumb. My mind was a mess right now, my emotions twisted into a large knot.

What does he want from me? The question kept lingering in my mind.

Instead of slapping his hand off like I usually do, I slowly shrugged it off.

"I'll think about it during dinner. It's getting dark let's quickly head back." I quickly buried my feelings deep into my heart and let my cold persona take over.

We're not the same. I was born a winner.

You.. you were born to lose.
