Harry POV

Harry looked at Tom as if he was studying him for a moment. Now that everything had been explained to him and he understood things, he wasn't so frightened. It also came to Harry's attention that the scent from earlier had become much stronger. The boy closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of it. The scent smelled heavenly to him, like the safest place in the world, akin to coming home. Harry's eyes opened to find Tom watching him. He blushed as his wings fluttered a bit. It was then that the information from the earlier tests came back to his mind. He recalled it saying Tom was his mate.

"Tom, what does mate mean?" Harry asked, still staring directly at the man.

"Well....well it means that two people are destined for each other. They feel a pull that draws them together. Most with a creature inheritance have a destined mate. Some never find their mate while others find them instantly," Tom explained, a faint blush dusting his cheeks.

"How would one find their mate?"

"Well it's different for every creature. I know it's just a click kind of thing with vampires, they meet and just know. Sirens, or mermaids, have a scale on the back of their neck that matches their mate's scales and would find them by the pull they feel towards them. While demons, like me, would find their mate by scent. Their mate would have the most intoxicating smell, unique to solely them."

Harry stared at Tom hard for a moment as if he was carefully choosing what to say. "What happens if one were to reject their mate?"

The ravenette watched as Tom paled a bit and swallowed hard. "Again, it depends on the creature. But most often what happens is that the rejected mate will try, and sometimes succeed, in killing themself. If the rejected mate is the submissive then it is almost guaranteed they will kill themself. However, if it is the dominant that is rejected, it varies a bit more."

Harry sat quietly while he thought about what Tom said. He was almost subconsciously watching as Tom became more and more tense the longer he went without talking. Slowly, Harry stood from his seat and moved to where Tom was. As if moving through mud, he reached out a hand and brought Tom's face up to meet his eyes.

"I'm not going to reject you. I just need us to go a bit slow. I'm scared, confused and broken but I trust you to protect me," Harry told the chocolate haired man softly.

A beaming smile broke out on Tom's face and he quickly engulfed Harry in a hug. The smell radiating from Tom was intoxicating and Harry, once again, closed his eyes and took a deep breath of it. He knew he hadn't done much, but he was so tired and he felt safe and protected with Tom there. Slowly, he let his weight rest on his mate. The older male carefully shifted Harry into his lap, keeping his head buried in his neck. Harry slowly drifted off to the purrs coming from Tom.

Remus POV

Remus has been sitting in one of the upstairs bedrooms of grimmauld place when an owl tapped on the window. Both he and Sirius had been living there since Remus left the teaching job at Hogwarts. The man was quick to jump up and let the owl enter the room. For a moment, he admired the beautiful female northern saw-whet owl. His owl geek phase in which he studied and learned every owl possible was handy knowledge sometimes. Remus cooed at the bird for a moment before letters clutched in her talons drew his attention. He gave the owl a few treats and took the letter. Two were addressed in Harry's handwriting, one for him and Sirius each. The third, however, had the Prince seal on it. Remus knew it must be important if it was Severus sending them a letter. He briefly wondered why Harry and Severus would be using the same owl to send letters.

"Love! We have mail!" Remus called out to Sirius.

He set aside the letter for Sirius and the one from Severus before carefully opening his letter from Harry. He quickly scanned the letter. Reading Harry had an inheritance tried to bring up a memory, but it was only a feeling. A feeling of forgetting something he was supposed to remember. Before he could think on it more, Sirius entered the room causing Remus to turn and give him a loving smile. Sirius smiled back, his face was starting to look less gaunt from his time in Azkaban. He was overall looking much better from his time spent there. Remus was thankful Narcissa was helping with the mind healing and therapy.

The silvery-eyed man plopped down next to his mate. "Who is it from love?"

"We each have one from Harry and one for both of us I think is from Severus. It has the Prince seal, but it could also be from Tom," Remus answered, slightly blushing from the nickname.

Sirius hummed in response and picked up his letter, quickly reading it. Starting at his own letter, Remus was met again with the feeling in the back of his mind. Like a piece of him was missing, an important piece of their lives.

"We should write back and let Harry know we can meet him. Leaky Cauldron maybe?" Sirius said, snapping Remus out of his daze.

"Siri, we should read the other letter first. I keep getting the feeling we're missing something. That there's something important we have to remember," Remus replied.

Sirius gave Remus a small hug and carefully opened the last letter.

Moon and Grimm,

We have found someone you lost long ago. He had been placed in forced hiding by Dumbleduck. You may not remember him as you may have memory blocks placed on yourselves. If you do not know what I am talking about, go to Gringotts and ask that any blocks be removed. Ask for Griphook and tell him Tom sent you about Vega. I promise it will all make sense soon.

Lord Severus Prince

Remus groaned when he read the name Vega, it turned the inkling in the back of his mind into more of a scratch. He focused in on it and got a flash of a small child in his head before a searing pain made him nearly black out.

"-mus. Remus! Come back love!" Sirius called out to him while shaking the man. Remus' eyes fluttered open to meet Sirius' worried ones. A relieved smile came over his face. "Don't scare me like that, Moony!"

The werewolf gave his mate a hug. "We have to go to Gringotts. We have to remember."

The silvery-eyed man nodded and helped Remus stand before they apperated to the bank.
