Jane POV

I stood with Alec. I heard everything that went on. I can do this in a breeze but watching... well listening closely to my mate torturing someone. That hit a little different. I saw Izzy come out of the garage covered in blood. "I shouldn't have let her do that Alec," I said turning from her.
Izzy ran upstairs quickly. I listened to her carefully, but she didn't speak the entire time she was upstairs. She came running down, her clothes were new and there was no sign of blood on her. She took a deep breath and walked over to me. I turned to face her. I put both of my hands on both sides of her face. "Are you okay?" I asked looking at her.
"I'm perfectly fine Jane," she replied.
"I mean... are you really, okay?" I removed my hand and placed it on her chest, over her heart. I heard her heart, it was racing. This was too much for her, I just know it. "Your heart is racing," I said.
"I'm okay, just a lot of adrenaline," she said.
I opened my mouth to speak. The way she looked at me, she knew she was in for it. Then, I went off, "How can you be okay after that?! You literally cut someone's tongue out and stabbed someone, not once but twice!" I don't even know if I would stoop that low. "You aren't upset? Rattled? You are human, humans don't do that. They don't just torture people. Things like that should traumatize you. Any human would be traumatized by that. And you come back in here like absolutely nothing happened. Like you didn't just torture someone," I took a breath. "This is our job to discipline, to punish, to kill... not yours," I finished.
Izzy looked at me. What is going on in her head? "You done?" Izzy asked.
I took a deep breath and nodded.
She didn't say anything for a bit, she just stared at me.
"You should've let us handle this," I said again.
"Jane, how many times are you going to say that?" She asked raising her brow.
"Until you get it through your head that... that... this isn't something a human would do."
"I mean... at least I'm not eating people," she said under her breath. She had a small smile on her face.
Ugh! This is different! Calm down... I don't want to snap at her. "That's different. You know that's different. We do what we have to do to survive," I said defensively.
She looked at me for a moment... as if it was obvious. "Jane, I wasn't talking about you," she said and pressed her lips together, it was as if she was going to burst out into laughter. "I was talking about Jeffery Dahmer," she said letting out a small giggle.
I looked at her confused. Jeffery Dahmer?
"You are who knows how old, and you don't know who Jeffery Dahmer is?" She tilted her head.
I don't pay attention to humans, so why would I know? "Who?"
"Jane, please tell me you are playing dumb."
"No," I crossed my arms.
Izzy smiled at me.
I did not like the look on her face at all.
"Cool, little history lesson... So, Jeffery Dahmer is an American serial killer. He was a cannibal and a sex offender. He dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991. He would take his victims home and give them alcohol laced with drugs. and he would strangle them to death and then engage in sexual acts with their corpse before he dismembered them and disposing their bodies. He dismembered people and kept body parts as souvenirs. He took photos at various stages of the murder. He was captured in 1991 and was sentenced to 16 life terms. He was killed by a fellow prison inmate," she said then gave me another look.
