(Derek's POV)

I was holding Meredith's hair back and I see bright red in the toilet. I didn't know what to say until she muttered help me. Meredith passed out and I caught her. "Oh my God, oh my God.",  I say.

I pick her up bridal style and lay her on the bed so I can dial 911. It's never normal for someone to vomit blood so something must be seriously wrong . I call an ambulance and they get here within 5 minutes. I let them in the house and bring them to Meredith. "Pulse is faint, but there.", I hear one paramedic say. "Let's load her onto the gurney.", I hear another say. I hop into the ambulance and sit down next to Meredith unconscious on the gurney.

Once we got to the hospital, Meredith was rushed to a trauma room and I tried following her but I was stopped by Bailey. "Derek, no. You cannot go in there. Not for Meredith, not for anyone. You're in no shape", Dr. Bailey said in a calm tone. "But, I need to help her. I need to Bailey.", I said running my fingers through my hair. "Come in, let's go to the waiting room.", Bailey replied. I followed her to the waiting room and said a silent prayer which is something I never do.

(Meredith's POV)

I woke up disoriented and in a lot of pain. I look around to see doctors and nurses standing over me yelling different things. "Meredith. Meredith can you hear me?", Dr. Romano asks. "Mmm.", I say because my brain cannot seem to form a normal sentence. I then see Dr. Bailey come into the room. "Meredith we have to perform an endoscopy, okay?", Dr. Bailey asks. "Okay..", I mutter before throwing up blood again. "Ok, this is bad let's get her prepped for an upper GI endoscopy now!", Dr. Romano yells.

I was awake through this whole thing and I was really scared. I see a nurse put a sedative into my I.V and my eyes become very heavy.

(No One's POV)

A nurse turns on the monitors for Meredith's vitals and a monitor that shows the footage of the endoscopy. Dr. Romano carefully passes the endoscope through Meredith's esophagus and into her stomach and duodenum. Upon further investigation, he sees a gastric ulcer on the stomach lining and sees that is bleeding into Meredith's stomach very heavily. That would explain the bright red blood that came out when Meredith vomited. He stops the ulcer from bleeding but is not sure if it is a long-term fix. Meredith also lost a lot of blood so she will need an emergency blood transfusion and I.V. Once the procedure is over, Meredith is transported to a hospital room and is set up with Type AB blood and an I.V.

(Meredith's POV)

I woke up to a very dry throat and my whole body, especially my stomach, is in pain. I look around to see Derek typing something on a computer. "Derek?", I ask with a cough. "You're awake!", Derek says smiling and getting up to the side of my bed. "Can I have some water?", I ask clearing my throat. "Oh of course.", Derek said and got me a cup of water. "Thanks.", I reply and gratefully sip the cool liquid. "Can you tell me what happened?", I asked because even though I was awake from some parts I was pretty out of it.

"Okay, well first you threw up a lot of blood at the house and it was bright red which meant that you were bleeding heavily in your stomach but I did not know why. I called the ambulance and your pulse was weak and you were unconscious but your pulse was normal again in the ambulance. I was so scared because I thought I was going to lose you. When I heard that you threw up blood again in the trauma room I became even more nervous and then you were taken for your endoscopy. After the endoscopy you were taken to this room and I was brought up here. A nurse prepared an emergency blood transfusion and fluids since your bleeding was so severe and then Dr. Romano came in. He explained everything about the endoscopy to me and he told me that he found a gastric ulcer that was bleeding out and it may bleed out again so we have to be careful. After that I decided to do a little research since I'm off work and it would help pass time while you slept. And now we're here.", Derek said while holding my hand the whole time.
