Chapter 5: "Poor Little 'Skunk',"
No One's POV:
"Oi! Kid! Get your head down!"
Mitsuki whisper-yells to Kirishima from the trunk of Inkos car.
The plan was to hide in the car well Inko drove Izuku over to the church. Kirishima took the floor behind the driver and passenger seats.
It wouldn't be very manly of him to make his best friends mother, shove her lovely face between the floor mats, still stained by last winter's salt from the sidewalks and the crusted over the bottom of the seats, where he discovered a brown hair tie, a rouge green skittle and $2 that he kindly gave to Mrs. Midoriya later.
"Sorry! My arm is cramping,"
He moved his head so it was better hidden.
"Quiet! He's coming!"
Inko shushed
"Shit-"
Mitsuki ducked down, producing a thud then quickly resuming her position; One leg over some (used to be) perfectly folded blankets and her head resting on a couple of dollar store bags of planned DIY projects that have been simply forgotten.
"Hey honey, are you ready to go?"
Inko asked as Izuku sat in the car.
"Yep," He hummed in response and buckled himself in.
They had the average discussion before Inko asked how Izuku's day was. And to Kirishima's surprise, Midoriya said "uneventful." in a very un-Midoriya-like tone. Who knew the guy could be so pessimistic in private? Sure, he was a bit of a silent-nerd, but he was always pretty peppy and excited in class. It always made him excited too.
Of course, that response led them into a deeper conversation, Inko forgetting they had company in the car. She may have forgotten or didn't care that people were listening, though. She was a good mother like that. Putting her child above all, no matter what.
"Aw...Honey, what's wrong? You were so happy to go out today!"
"I don't know...I guess it just kind of hit me that once summer is over...I'll have to go back to school..."
"But you love school!"
"I mean, y-yeah but-"
An image of Midoriya getting pushed into a locker went through Kirishima's mind. He would've said something, but it happened so fast. It wasn't like it was Bakugou or any of the other guys he knew. He had a class with one of them, but for the most part, he had no idea who the other was. Oh. That's what that was. He's getting bullied? That actually makes a lot of s-
His train of thought got cut off when Inko hit a speed bump.
A muffled "AuQgh!" could be heard from the trunk. Inko coughed to cover it up (just barely).
"What was th- Mom, are you okay??" He started rubbing her back as the fake coughs came out.
"Mmh," Inko finally 'caught her breath'. "I think I uhm...Ran over a skunk or something..."
"MOM! Oh my-"
He started to turn his head around to see the 'skunk carcass'.
"N-NO. DON'T LOOK- he..he's fine."
She reached over, grabbing the back of his head.
"BUT YOU JUST-"
"No-Yeah he's not fine but uhm...Don't look I don't want you to see that."
