"Who is the lucky girl?"
That was what the jeweller asked when Matt bought an opal necklace. He was smiling while holding it tightly in his hand, looking at the necklace proudly. Jason was tugging at his pants, big eyes, and sparkly like diamonds.
"She's not your ordinary girl, that's all you need to know."
"I am guessing that lassie is pretty if you don't want to talk about her that much."
"Nobody talks about my mom like that!" Jason screamed before Matt gave a pat on his head, trying to calm him down.
"Wait, is the woman a widow?"
Matt tossed the bag of gold to the man, before walking without a word with Jason along the streets together. The jeweller just stared at the pouch counting it making sure it was enough before smiling at Matt from behind.
Jason pulled Matt around, jumping excitedly, nearly revealing his werewolf ears before Matt fixed it up for him and Matt fixed his own cloak afterwards.
"So, you are going to be my new dad, right?"
"Only if she accepts it," Matt told him.
"She definitely will accept it, you two are the closest, adorablest pair of lovebirds!"
"Adorablest isn't a word Jason, and I am not so sure either, but hey, if things don't go well, I am pretty sure we can trade this opal necklace for some food at Hendrick's guild, right?"
"It's definitely going well, you worked hard, really hard for that."
Matt had a hearty laugh looking at Jason. But it was cut short when he saw Hettlesmith started running towards Matt in a rush, seeing Hettlesmith that way caused Matt to feel a terrible gut feeling. The town lord then bent over taking deep breaths in front of Matt.
"I searched for you two for days, Lireid didn't give me any straight clues where you two are and..."
"Old man Lireid? He never gives clear direction anyway," Matt said, with a hand on his waist, shaking his head slightly, "come on Smith, take deep breaths, and tell me what's going on."
"Where is Snow? She hasn't been back for so long that it starting to worry me."
"She's travelling far, she told us that she had something to deal with," Matt replied.
Hettlesmith looked right and left, with his hands shaking and he looked restless. Matt was actually holding back, and the cloak conveniently covered his hands that were shaking beneath it.
"Do you know Mother Greta, Matt?"
"Of course, I know her, that woman is the head of Goldcrest, a man must have been living under a rock if they don't know she exists."
Jason lifted his tiny hand up, "but I don't know where Goldcrest is."
"Shush," Matt glared at Jason, making him whimper and turned his face to the ground.
"I was hoping that it wasn't true, but apparently Mother Greta said that she was going to execute the Silver Blood, and I was hoping that you may know where Snow might've gone."
"Silver Blood?" Matt raised an eyebrow, the news made him more uncomfortable, he held Jason's tiny hand tightly in his and Jason too was shaking, the poor wolf did not expect such news.
