They locked her inside a cell, a hollow cold cell, and the only warmth she felt was the light that came in between the bars just like how small her hope was, she wanted to get out of the place but she felt like the bars were made from all her mistakes.
She curled herself up in the cell, thinking that she deserved it. Even if she were to change, it would never erase what she had done. For a moment she stared at her hands before she saw a flash of vision as if her hands were stained with blood before she covered her face and started crying all alone in the cell, losing all hope.
Even during the night, the moonlight was calming to her, she looked at the moon to calm herself down, seeing the moon reminded her of the werewolves' friends she had. But she had no idea how they would react anyway if she was to return to them after such a long while, she ran away from those werewolves in the first place anyway.
She looked at her hair, every day her hair reminded her of what she had done. Her power was a curse to her, it was as if it reminded her that she had killed someone, and she would only kill more with her powers. It had brought her so much harm, and she felt as if she doesn't deserve the power that she was given.
Nobody knew the silent suffering of this woman, not even the guards that guarded her cells, they were just looking down on her. Not even the guards wanted to touch her, they saw the scars on her face and think that they might just be cursed by her. They only came to her cells to feed her, at other times, they would stay far away from her cell, leaving her with nobody to talk to.
She looked at the scars on her body as memories came into her mind. The reason why she didn't want to marry the nobleman because she didn't want to disappoint another man with how ugly her body looked like, with all the scars from all the battles she had fought, the same way she had hidden all her scars, down from her legs to her arms.
The only thing that kept her sane was a lullaby that her family sang to her, they called it The Evers Lullaby as they taught it from generation to generation. Remembering her family did make her feel better, remembering their faces, the soft gentle smile they had. The little place where she collected fruits, from her family garden. The parents were pleased with her as she learned and grew up. She was happy back when she was still with her family but now, she's the only one left, she felt alone.
But then her mind strayed as she remembered her family, the ones she got, not the ones she was born with.
She remembered her little boy Jason, who acted as if he was truly her child, small and she would carry him behind her back as he lay her head down on her back, sleeping soundly. She would carry the small child to bed, he was small for his age and was underfed, but she wanted to raise him better, she wanted to see him grow into a teenager, then an adult who would get married and have children that she would like to play like her own grandchildren.
How futile was that dream anyway?
She thought everything in her life was her fault as if she was the bad luck that people want to throw out from their life. Her existence felt like a weight to her, she wished that she was never born, she wished that she never had to see the light of the day.
Then she remembered Matt, who she saved and witnessed him being able to accept himself for who he is. He too knew how she felt, to be unaccepted because of something they didn't choose to be. She didn't choose to be barren, he didn't choose to be a werewolf, they were so similar to each other.
She laughed a little bit in the cell as tears fell dropped down, she remembered that Matt pushed down the house of cards she had built in the guild before she chased after him.
She remembered the journey of travelling on the ships, she wished to see more of the world, she wanted to know how big the world is. She had travelled so many places, that she felt like a nomad more than a normal person.
She imagined how life would be like, if she travelled with Jason and Matt around the world, as they do work that people would give them, going to different guilds, fighting monsters, it would be a sweet world for them.
However, the moment she realized everything was impossible because of what she had done, she started tearing up more, her eyes became swollen from crying, she wanted to scream but she was too tired and weak from being inside the cell for too long.
