"Matt, how much longer are we going to walk?" Jason asked, holding Matt's hand.
The two had been travelling for days across the country and towns, even going on ships just to get to where Snow was. The two were getting exhausted, they barely had enough slept every night just so that they could arrive fast enough, Matt had barely brought enough food so they had to forage around or even hunt in the forest for something to eat and even then, it wasn't enough.
"Jason, we will get there," he said in a low exhausted tone, "not any much longer, we will, I promise."
He trusted the person in front of him, "can I sit, just give me some time for me to sit."
He sighed as he let Jason sit down on the cold earthy ground for a little bit, and he sat next to Jason too. He looked at the small child, he was proud of him for even trying to follow him for days, but Matt was also happy that he was actually going closer to the place.
After putting some thought, he decided to tell Jason something as he crouched down in front of Jason to be eye-to-eye with him, and held his tiny shoulders in his big hands, looking at him with his golden eyes, smiling.
"Jason, you can stop calling me Matt from now on."
"What?" He got confused.
"You can call me dad."
"Dad? Matt, you..."
"I said call me dad."
Jason puffed his cheeks and turned his head to the side with his arms folded. Matt looked at him confused before he heard Jason reasoning for not calling him dad.
"But you are so childish that you don't deserve to be called dad!"
"Jason!"
"Nope, just disgusting, you are so childish, stubborn, little brat."
"Says you!"
He started scruffing his hair and laughed as Jason attempted to push him away, closing his eyes attempting to kick the big-bodied Matt away from him, but Matt just continued tickling him as he just laughed along.
"Stop Matt! Matt!"
"Call me dad, and I'll stop," he grinned.
"Okay, okay, dad! There you go, stop!"
He stopped tickling Jason and gave a pat on his head, "good boy, I knew you can do it."
Jason puffed his cheeks as the two continued walking together, holding hands, for a moment the little boy did saw his friend as a father figure to him. The little boy was orphaned from a young age, never knowing what it felt to have a father figure in his life, but seeing how Matt has grown as a person, he felt respect in his heart despite being shy to admit it.
Matt's eyes were focused on his goal as he kept walking towards the town nearby, he knew the closer he gets, the better. He had been holding on to his determination, he knew the path was right for him. All he wanted was to be happy, and for a better future, nothing else.
