The next day Mason, Laine, and I walked through the portal to the werewolf world.

"Cassy you have to talk to me eventually," Mason said as we entered the new world.

"Actually, I don't. I don't need to talk to either of you." I replied.

"What did Laine do?" He asked.

"Ask her girlfriend," I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Heather is not my girlfriend," Laine said.

"Oh really?" I turned to her. "So you two didn't go on a date? In that case, I assume no kiss was involved?"

Laine remained quiet.

"Exactly." I continued.

"It didn't-... I don't like her in that way." She tried reasoning.

I looked over at her for a minute and then turned to continue walking.

"Cassy, wait up. In case you forgot, you need me to get to your mom's." Mason said.

"Oh, so you can lie about where she lives too?"

"For the hundredth time, she told me to lie!" He sighed.

I ignored him as I continued walking.

Once we arrived my mother was patiently waiting as we walked in.

I exchanged greetings with her and expressed my anger at all the lies. She understood saying it wasn't the best idea but the only one she could think of at the moment. She apologized profusely promising never to do so again.

"Mason, why don't you take Laine to Cassy's room? Let me and Cassy talk alone for a moment." My mother said.

"Why my room?" I asked.

I knew there was nothing in it considering I haven't even been there myself. Still, it was an odd thought to have her wait in my room.

My mom shot me a look I could only assume was the look kids feared from their parents. I didn't say anything else because if I'm being honest it looked terrifying.

As soon as Mason and Laine left, my mom began explaining a few things to me.

"I heard about the attack at your father's. I'm sure you're curious as to why they wanted you dead. Your father and I have been hoping you would be the key to binding our two worlds together as one. Somehow, word of our plans got out and many free angry saying that it was wrong for us to have had you, much less in secret."

"How exactly am I supposed to bring vampires and werewolves together? Haven't the two been fighting for centuries?"

"Your father and I are working on that but the main priority now is to keep you safe." She replied.

I didn't even know what to say at this point so she changed the subject.

"Your dad also told me about your developing feelings for-."

My eyes widened.

"Woah! Hold on! I know you're my mom and all but you're also kind of a stranger right now but either way my... Uh... private... life is private."

It's just way too soon and too weird to talk about with anyone much less parents you've barely met.

"Alright, I understand. Just know I'm here if you need me." She smiled and looked as though she was trying not to laugh.

"Thanks... Can I go now? To my room?" She signaled to the door and I made my way over.

I opened the door to see Mason and Laine pause their conversation.
