The next class I had was math, luckily it was with Laine. We talked briefly because of course in class you are meant to learn. It had honestly passed by pretty quickly.

My next class was science which I also had with Laine as well as Heather.

"Hey, are you okay?" Laine asked when I rubbed my temples.

"Yeah. I just have a small headache is all. When's lunch?"

"Not for another couple of hours. Do you want my granola bar?"

"No. I'll be alright thanks."

I was starving but I didn't want to take her food and I knew I was craving something else.

Not long after the bell rang and I met up with Mason.

"PE?" I asked.

"Yeah, nice."

When we got to the gym the teacher told us we were going outside to play football. As a warm-up he had us get into partners to toss the ball back and forth. We then had a five-minute break before we started to play.

I went over and sat next to Mason on the grass.

"What's up with you? You don't seem focused."

He pointed over at a couple of guys, you could tell they were the jerks of the school. I looked over at Mason. Before I knew it I had moved so quickly which left even myself in shock.

One of the guys must have wanted to hit Mason with the football but I caught it. Very quickly with one hand. I looked over at the guys and their mouths were wide open.

"Come here." Mason grabbed my arm and dragged me off the side of the building. "What the hell was that?." He said quietly not wanting anyone to hear.

"I-I don't know it was like it just happened on-."

"Reflex. I know but you have to learn to control it otherwise people will get suspicious." He looked back over the wall.

"I don't think too many people saw." He sighed in relief.

"I can't just let the ball hit you."

"I know that but I can take care of myself."

I suddenly groaned at the sudden pain in my stomach.

"What's wrong? You okay?"

"Yeah, just getting a bit hungry. Don't worry about it."

"Well, we should head back then."

When we got back the guys kept staring and muttering amongst themselves but I couldn't hear. We started a match of football but I didn't do much. Only enough not to get yelled at.

When it was over I sat on the grass to tie my shoes that got undone. I noticed one of the guys start walking toward me.

"That was some catch earlier." He said as he in next to me.

"Thanks." I didn't bother to look up at him.

"Did you used to play? Or did your brother make you play?"

"He's not my brother."

"Right. Well, I'm Tyler nice to meet you." He got up holding out his hand to help me.

I didn't refuse even though I wanted to.

"I'm Cassy."

"I know. The whole school's talking about you and your friend over there." He said as he walked with me.

"I figured given all the stares. Why is that though? Surely it's not entirely just because we are new."

He looked over at me and I stopped walking.

"For many reasons." He smiled.

"Like?"

He shrugged. "Well, there are a few who think the two of you are good attractive. I can only agree on one of you." He winked.

Gross.

"The main reason however just so happens to be that you two are friends with the ever so lovely Laine Rose."

"Oh," I replied simply.

So Laine is the popular one after all. My guess was right.

"How do you three know each other?" He asked.

"It's a long story I guess you could say."

"Right... Well, I best be off. See you around Cassy." He smiled once more before walking off.

"What did that prick want?" Mason suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Nothing," I said and we walked off to lunch.

We met up with Laine as we entered the cafeteria.

"What's with all the leaves?" Mason asked.

Laine laughed. "The school voted for the option of having a vegetarian-only lunch menu. Surprisingly a lot of students agreed so no more meat."

"Oh. Cassy follow me?" Mason asked and proceeded to lead us out of the building.

"Where are we going?"

"Just come on."

"Seriously where are we going?" I asked again.

"Somewhere no one will see us."

The school was quite big. Walking a fair distance away Mason led me behind a tree.

He sat on the floor and so did I. He started searching his bag and then plopped out a bag of raw meat.

"When's the last time you had raw meat?" He asked.

"I don't know. A few days ago maybe. Why?"

"Listen all that 'werewolves don't live off of meat' crap is bullshit. You need raw meat every day to keep your strength up and so you don't pass out or..." He stopped unsure if he should continue.

"Or what?"

He sighed. "Or so you don't end up feeding on humans. That's why it's important to maintain your meat diet."

"It can only be raw?" I asked.

"To fully sustain yourself yes. You can eat cooked meat if times are desperate but it wouldn't fully satisfy the cravings." He said tossing me the bag.

It was soaking in blood.

"You had this in your bag the whole time?"

"Yeah, well I was worried there'd be an emergency. You're welcome."

I hesitated with the bag. Mason noticed so he opened it for me.

Once I got a whiff of it I couldn't stop myself from devouring it.

"That's why your stomach was hurting. You had gone too long without eating." He scrunched his nose.

"I get you're starving but at least try to be clean about it." He said referring to my bloody hands.

I looked at him for a second and rolled my eyes as I continued to eat.
