𝓦𝓱𝓸 𝓘𝓼 𝓢𝓱𝓮...𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲?

~The Beginning of the exam~

Many whispers are heard as hisoka slowly goes back to his position near the wall, everyones eyes on him as he does so.

Tonpa can't help but scoff, sweat going down his face as he looks at the clown with uneasiness. Fear and anger mixed into his face

"Just perfect... that psychopath is back again." He says with dismay as you keep your eyes on him, feeling the bile rise from your stomach as it sits horrified in your throat

You just hope you don't get involved with him anytime soon.

"You know that guy?"

Gons question rips you out of the daydream, turning your attention to tonpa for answers as the chubby man nods disappointed

"So that mean he tried last year?" Kurapika asks as you move closer to the pair, wanting to hear the explanation for this unsettling man

"Number 44, Hisoka the magician. He was the number one pick to pass last years exam until he almost killed an examiner he didn't approve of."

This rings a bell in your mind as you look around for bean, remember the commotion from last years exam involving a injured hunter.

"that bear man was rushed off the exam almost immediately, I always wondered what happened to the drunk" you whisper above your breath, not catching the attention of anyone as Leorio groans angrily

"Then what the hell is he doing back?!" He exclaims, trying to figure out why they would let him on the site once more

"They change the content and examiners every year. And the examiners choose the new material, the devil himself can take the hunter exam if the examiners say it's okay" tonpa says this harshly as his eyes are still on Hisoka's back warily.

"If he was top pick for last year.. he'll pass for sure this time if he plays nice" you add on, watching as everyone nods there head in agreement.

Tonpa looks back at the rookies one last time before he slaps on his signature smile, clapping his hands together as he gets Gons attention

"Oh! I almost forgot! Here let's have a toast to friendship!" Tonpa says before he rummage's through his bag, pulling out his pack of orange sodas to give to them.

The boys eyes light up at the beverage, you take this as your time to go before trying to walk off, only getting a few steps forward before Gon grabs your sleeve

"Here's your juice y/n!" He says excited, holding up one of the sodas before you shake your head, throwing the juice back to the chubby man

"No thanks. He's already offered up the juice" you explain, Tonpa laughing nervously at this as Gon hums at you confused

He shruggs though before quickly taking a sip of the orange beverage, seemingly happy as you sigh awkwardly-

You stop with a yelp as Gon opens his mouth, making all the juice fall out as he gags. Surprising you and the rest as he coughs

Leorio and Kurapika stop what there doing as well as they both look with interest, watching as Gon coughs the juice up

"I'm sorry Mr Tonpa but I think this juice might have gone bad, it taste funny.." Gon says wiping his mouth off as the two others follow

Leorio spitting his out fast before he throws it on the ground "seriously! That was a close one!"

Kurapika just pours his on the floor unbothered as you look at Gon surprised

'The juice is spoiled? I didn't smell anything wrong with it' you think, looking at the kid astonished before tonpa looks with a horrified eyes

"Huh that's odd! Really sorry about that fellas" the chubby man says as he seems to be in deep thought.

You pat Gons back gently as he throws his drink on the floor, rubbing the back of his neck giggling

"Please forgive me! I had no idea the juice was bad!" Tonpa yells, suddenly on the floor bowing as he begs on the floor for forgiveness

Gon quickly reassuring him its alright as he still begs, you feel a presence to your left as a hand goes on your shoulder

"Hey y/n, you said you drank some as well are you feeling okay?" Kurapika asks with a worried face, you look at him with slight frowned eyebrows before shrugging

"I'm fine, I didn't actually drink mine" you say waving off his concern as the blonde nods understandingly.

Tonpa takes his leave from the group as everyone watches him walk away, thinking about what you've learn about him before you speak up

"He must be one of the rookie crushers here" you say as the group looks at you before a loud bell rings out in between your thoughts

You all look over confused before your eyes widen, seeing the wall slowly rise from the earth as satotz stands there holding his watch

"It's finally beginning" you say rubbing your shoulder, finally being ready as the three boys follow you to the front

"I apologize for the delay, thank you for waiting. The entry period for the hunter exam is officially closed, so with no further ado the hunter exam will begin!"

You look at satotz as the man's eyes drift through the waves of people, finally spotting you as he gives you a hum of acknowledgement.

Gons eyes peer up to you, having a glint of something in them before he smiles proudly.

"One finale word of caution, if your short on luck or ability keep in mind there is a real chance you could end up seriously injured, death is another distinct possibility...."

"If you are willing to except the risks involved I ask you to follow me now, but for the rest of you! Kindly exit through the elevator behind you!" Satotz says dramatically as you stand waiting for someone to leave

No one moves a muscle, besides who would want to end it now when they've already risked finding this place?

"Right then very well! All 404 applicants will now participate in phase one." The man turns around before putting his foot up way to high, your vision sharpening knowing what's coming next

He steps down hard before walking in a army way, everyone shortly following as you sigh

"This is bringing back some bad memories" you say shaking your head as you follow along. The group looking at you weirdly as Gon hums

"What's that supposed to mean y/n? It's just walking!"

"You won't be saying that in a few hours"
