Chapter 2: Blending In

"Okay," said Luz to her three friends, "In order to blend in here, first, you'll need new clothes. So we're going shopping. I kinda need new clothes too." "So when we walk into a human store in our Hexside uniforms," said Amity, "We might be judged?" "Possibly," replied Luz, "But we have to go." Luz then grabbed Owlbert and led her friends outside. "We'll need to land where no one can see us," said Luz, "Gus, can you make an illusion spell that hides us while we fly?" "Like an invisibility spell?" asked Gus. "Yeah," replied Luz. "I can try," said Gus while making the spell circle. The spell worked and the four were invisible to everyone but each other. "Hop on guys," said Luz. Amity, Gus, and Willow got on the staff and Luz took off. Despite everyone else below them not being able to see them, they could see each other, and Luz thought she could see a light shade of red on Amity's face. She shook it off and flew towards the mall. They landed behind the building. "Okay Gus," said Luz, "We're good." Gus got rid of the spell and they were all visible. "What are we gonna do about the staff?" asked Willow. "I got it," said Amity as she took it in her hand and made it disappear, "I'll call it back when it's time to leave." "Where'd you send it?" asked Luz. "To something called a witches' void," replied Amity, "it's where I keep my scroll, extra hair ties, pictures of my friends, other personal belongings, and now Eda's staff." "Cool," said Luz, "Alright, let's head in." The three witches pulled their hoods over their heads to hide their ears and walked around the building to the entrance. As Gus, Willow, Amity, and Luz walked by, they earned a couple of stares from people in the mall. Luz just adjusted her beanie and kept walking. Some people whispered something off to the side about them looking like a cult. Luz guessed it was because they all were dressed in their matching Hexside uniforms. Others said they looked like cosplayers that lost their way to Comic-Con. But the four never took too much notice, all except Amity. Being the youngest Blight, Amity always was judged by her parents and compared to her siblings. She hated judgement. And all the whispers and snickers around her made her a bit jittery. She held her head down and kept walking with her friends. When they finally got to a clothing store, Amity felt a bit more relieved, since she would be rid of this uniform soon. Luz looked at the shelves and found some clothes she liked. She found a green jacket, a purple and white striped shirt, and black jeans. Amity couldn't decide on what to get, Willow had no idea what much of the human clothes were, and Gus had no fashion sense whatsoever. So Luz helped. Luz found Amity a pink dress, spiked bracelets, and black leggings, she found Willow a green t-shirt, a yellow raincoat, and a pair of yoga pants, and found Gus a pair of jeans and a light blue hoodie. They paid for the clothes and then went to the bathrooms to change into them. When Luz stepped out of her stall, she grabbed her beanie out of the bag she put her Hexside clothes in and put it on her head. Amity then stepped out of the next one. She had her ears hidden behind her lion's mane of hair. When Willow stepped out, Luz realized that hiding her ears would be difficult, since Willow had short hair and no hood. Luz took off her beanie and gave it to Willow. "There," she smiled, "Now they're hidden." The three girls walked out of the bathroom to see Gus wearing his clothes. "Looking good Gus," said Luz. "Thanks," said Gus, "I like these human clothes." "I knew you would," said Luz, "Now let's go face the music."
