Chapter 64

Aveliene's pov:

We are driving in complete silence. Neither of us know what to say. As if fighting with our own words. Finally after having an inner battle I decided to break this silence.

"What you will you do with Dimitri and Veronica?" I asked softly without turning to him. He sighed and spoke.

"After you left me with that evidence, I confronted Veronica about it. First she hesitated but then she told me about her damn deal with Dimitri. She begged me to forgive her, and leave you. But I was beyond furious. So I canceled the deal with her father and warned her to stay away from me." He said through gritted teeth.

"After that I called Martinez but I didn't told him about the evidence until he confessed his part without any hesitation. Then I lost it and made my mind to destroy him. To take away his most important thing. His business. I threatened him that either he sell all his his shares and company to me or I will give this proof of his fraud designs to the media and will also file a complaint against him in the court. And will make sure that he will be strictly charged for his deeds."He said angrily with a smirk. I turned towards him.

"He knew that either way he was going to lose his reputation and become bankrupt. So he threatened me." He stated. While my eyes brimmed with concern and he noticed it.

"Don't worry, I can handle him. I am not afraid of anything except losing you" he said softly and I averted my gaze not showing how much his words affected me, he sighed.

Suddenly, a loud noise startled me. I turned to see three black cars following us. My eyes widen to see that they had guns in their hands. I turned towards Vaughn with shock. Who already was looking straight, his expression hardens.

"Vaughn why are they following us?" I said but he didn't answered me instead increased the car's speed. I jerked a little but Vaughn's hand stopped me from hitting the dashboard.

"Put your seat belt." He stated firmly and I did as he instructed.

Again they fired bullets in our direction as a scream left my mouth.

"What is happening?" I said this time loudly as panic fills me.

"They are Martinez's gang members. He has sent them to kill me." He scoffed and my eyes widen with fear.

"Relax Aveliene, don't worry I will not let anyone hurt you." He said with determination and I nodded although I was still not confirmed. Another shot startled us. Vaughn cursed under his breath and further increased the speed.

The road was empty as we drive with such high speed as it gives me vibes of fast and furious just a small difference that it is reality.
I was just silently hoping to survive this. I could see the tension on Vaughn's face as tears brimmed my eyes.

Suddenly!!

A car over takes us. Vaughn pressed the break with such a force that if I hadn't put the seat belt on then my head was going to hit very hard.

Those guys came out holding guns. One of them with a scar on his face opened my door and gestured me to step out, with the gun pointing at my head.

Vaughn stepped outside too his eyes were furious.

"Leave her." He said through gritted teeth.

The scar man holding me chuckled.
"Look the most feared Vaughn Rodriguez is now at our mercy. What a scene." He said with a sly smile as the other men started laughing too.

"I said leave her!" Vaughn's voice boomed with so much authority as their laughter died.

The scar man smirked challengingly and touched my cheek. I flinched with disgust.
