Song: Sleeping At Last - Safety Dance

We can go where we want to.

"I should've known you were already here." Her hands stayed in her lap as she picked at her red nail polish. She looked up timidly at him, his blue eyes searched for forgiveness from hers. He wanted things to just get better quickly. He knew that's not how it worked. "You can sit down." Her hand gestured toward the bed. He sat, one leg bent and laying on the bed, the other straight, ready if he needed to stand.

His eyes blue as the sea, she melted every time, even now. She wanted to just forgive him, forget all this talking crxp and kiss him. She could do that, but then what? Then where would they stand in this thing they had going on. She heard him say girlfriend once or twice, but they had yet to be seen together outside of their homes. School was every man/woman for themselves. They didn't hang out together, she didn't want to ruin anything for him, if there was anything to ruin and he wasn't moving along either. So, where did they stand?

"Niall." He looked up from his hands to her eyes, they both had been having stray thoughts. "Yeah, Grier." Her hand reaching for his, squeezing it. A small smile on her lips, making him relax. "I don't- don't want to do this... fighting thing. I just wanna be done with it and kiss you, to be honest." He smiled at her words, a huge sigh escaping his lips. "I just- you said her name and... I felt something. I don't wanna feel that ever again, whatever it was, I don't wanna feel it. Okay?" He pulled at her hand, interlocking their fingers, kissing her knuckles. "I promise you-" "Wait, wait."

Her free hand went to run through her hair, pursed lips as she tried to find the right words. "It's just so stupid, so fxckin' stupid, did I say stupid?" He shook his head, "no, I don't think you did." Her hand on her head, eyes wide, mouth open, "It's so stupid to make you promise me anything. Don't promise, just try not to do it anymore, yeah." She tasted the words as they went out and flew between them, thinking about them, how they flowed, were they right... all these thoughts made her nod. "Yeah, just, don't hurt me. Don't hurt one of your best friends." A concentrated look filled her features, he stared with an understanding smug.

He knew this was different, being with her was totally different. To the way she looked, talked, made him think, made him act, to the things she made him feel; it was all different.

"You know you're more than a best friend to me, have I not made that clear?" She slowly shook her head, a smile growing and never reaching the edges of her lips. "Grier," His fingers under her chin, tilting it up. "can I be your boyfriend?" His fingers sliding over towards her cheeks, smoothing over her soft skin. "Only if, I get to be the girlfriend." His eyes got brighter as he felt better for the first time today. "No shxt, Sherlock!" "Hey!" She pushed him back onto the bed, her body falling to her side as she stared at his face, memorizing the grooves of his features: from his nose, to his eyes, down to his lips. She wanted to know him in more ways than one.

He wanted that too.
