I was in pain, my body on fire from something I never asked for. I couldn't move, I was drugged and chained to the bed below me. Bright lights shone on my face and everything smelled of cleaning supplies and alcohol wipes. I knew I was in a hospital and felt defeated.

The memories from the night before started flooding in and overwhelming my senses.

"Help me," I croaked out, my throat felt as though it was burning from the inside out, tears slipped down my face at the realization that nobody would come to save me. I was stuck here until I was healed enough to fight for him again.

Forever his puppet, forever his slave, paying off a debt that wasn't even mine. Stuck in a world I never asked to be a part of. Playing a game I knew had no beginning or end.

Tears streaked my face as my body burned from the one place I could have created life instead of taken it.

Empty, I felt so empty and everything I ever wanted was gone now, by the hands of a man who I would one day seek revenge on.

I jolted up out of my sleep, my neck and back sore from falling asleep at the table last night. My papers are still in the same position I left them and the coffee from last night cold and stale.

Tears stained my cheeks from the nightmare that had consumed me. They never stopped no matter how hard I begged and pleaded my brain to keep them at bay, it was like a record in repeat when I closed my eyes.

One more day until I get to unleash my inner demons I have been suppressing for so long on him. Tomorrow it will be my turn to make the calls and fight the man who stole everything from me.

"Bugs, did you sleep down here?" Elaine walked into the dining room looking worried, "is everything okay with you?"

"I'm fine, I stayed up late last night trying to rack my brain for any more information I could remember about the estate and surrounding land. My mind keeps telling me I'm forgetting something but everything is right in front of me."

I stood up and stretched my aching muscles, "I'm going to shower and head to the gym, I'll see you later?"

"Maybe you should eat first? You haven't been eating well since you heard about this assignment and I worry about your health."

She walked into the kitchen and I followed her. The chef had already started cooking food and I was surprised I didn't hear her come in this morning. Grabbing an apple and water bottle I made my way to my room, took a shower and relaxed a little bit before I knew the guys would start heading in.

I looked around, this room was a mess since I've been neglecting to clean it or think about what to do with my boxes of money. I sighed and began putting my hair into a ponytail as I turned to walk out of the room Joseph was leaning in my doorway.

"We should talk," he said, now moving closer to me. He wasn't wearing his normal workout clothing but today he was dressed in a beautiful navy suit that had a white shirt underneath, paired with a black watch and shiny black shoes. Just the sight of him could take my breath away and the closer he got the more I could smell his intoxicating aroma that I adored.

Our bodies were now pressed to one another and he held my chin in his hand making me look up at him. His eyes bored into mine looking for answers that I couldn't give right now. "After tomorrow, I promise to stop avoiding you. But you're a distraction I don't need right now."

Joseph leaned down and kissed me softly, the taste of coffee still on his lips had me wanting more. He was like a drug and I, an addict, feigned for more of him all while knowing it would lead to nothing but our destruction. He pulled away and placed a kiss on my forehead, no words were spoken as he made his way to the door he just entered through.
