Loki woke violently, with the kick to his gut, and a knife kissing his throat. The tree that had nearly killed Clara and him both, had partially covered the mouth of the cave and they were hoping that would help hide them from unwanted company, but Clara was right, they had lingered too long.
"A party, just for me?" Loki started sarcastically, coughing through clenched teeth. At least the kick had missed his gash.
"Mhhhmm," Came a throated chuckle, from beside Loki and he turned to see a grotesquely large man smiling next to his face. He recognized him from his escapades in the valley before coming here. His teeth were the color of caramel, though his breath smelled more like rotten eggs. "A Prince of tricks and jokes, but I see no rat? Where is the girl?"
"Of what girl do you speak?" Loki tried sitting up but only managed to prop himself up on one elbow. He flung his hair out of his face and stared cooly up at his attacker.
"No tricks with me little boy. Where is she hiding?"
Loki tried to play coy with a smile, "If I were traveling with a woman, why upon the gods would she leave my side? Have you even properly taken in my beauty?" Loki stood confidently, grunting in pain as he got up. He let his blanket fall to the ground and stark-naked and prideful, he strutted in a circle with his hands outstretched.
"Classy," Not Mobius laughed and shook his head. "You just can't help yourself can you?"
"Why would I want to?" Loki answered him and looked directly into his eyes, suddenly missing him greatly. Loki shook himself out of his daydream and continued, "Yes, take in my godly physique and weep. Very few mortal men get to witness such... perfection." He winked at Not Mobius who was looking rather unimpressed.
"Tell me, do gods bleed boy?" His attacker struck with such force across Loki's face that he fell to the ground. Loki shook his hair back out of his face, and smiled at the oaf towering above him, teeth painted with blood. "Sometimes."
"I tire of these games, put your pants on and join us for a drink." There was a hearty laugh as this brute clapped Loki on the back and left the cave. Loki doubted very much that he was going to get that drink he suddenly needed so badly. He rose as... suggested... and took his time putting on his clothes.
"Play it cool man. The object is to survive, remember? Not out wit them." Not mobius shook his head as Loki let out a laugh.
"Says you."
*********
Clara walked slowly on her way back to the cave letting the rain sooth her. She really wanted to be honest with Loki but damn her anxiety was kicking in and there wasn't anything that could calm it at this point. Why had she been so stupid, she could have easily told him in the beginning and they would have never even gotten this close to begin with. That thought sent a pain radiating in her heart. Ugh, this was ridiculous, why was she falling so hard for this.. This... man? God? Frost giant? Clara wasn't even sure what he was, but what she was sure of was that she couldn't keep him. Whatever reason the moon had for bringing them together, it certainly wasn't to live happily ever after on an alien planet. "Ughhhh." She let out a frustrated cry and kicked a patch of grass.
Then she heard it. Coming from the direction she was walking, the direction Loki was in, there came deep and gruesome laughs that definitely did not belong to Loki.
'Shit.'
Clara, thinking quickly, rushed up as close as she dared and hopped into the lower branches of a nearby tree, just out of reach of the light of their fires, and began cataloguing every movement made by the company before her. Watching and waiting for a glimpse of Loki.
