MILA

"I was the one that made you look at your old girl and reconsider"

***

My eyes grew accustomed to the bright lights in Camille's living room as I tried to decipher whether it was really Theo on the other end of the line.

"Mila? Are you there?" I heard his raspy, exhausted riddled voice come from the phone.

"Where are you? Are you okay?" A wave of concern fell through my body.

"Sì, physically I'm okay." He paused. Faintly, I heard a glass hitting a table. "Please, come see me. I'm at the Four Seasons."

Before I could reply, he had hung up.

I quickly debated on whether it was safe or not to drive, and came to the conclusion that I was barely drunk.

I rushed around Camille's kitchen to find a pen and paper to write "Going out, -M."

Then, I poured her a glass of water, white setting down an aspirin.

Taking my car keys and walking out to my car, I made my way to Theo.

When I arrived at the eye catching resort, I realized Theo hadn't given me his room number.

The lobby of the Four Seasons was gorgeous. The huge, glistening chandelier hanging from the ceiling, with barely any guests roaming at this hour.

I walked up to the receptionist and waited patiently as she finished her phone call.

With a smile on her face, she greeted me. "How may I help you, miss?"

"Hi, my..." I paused. Do I refer to Theo as my friend? Uncle? I continued. "My uncle is staying here and he forgot to tell me his room number. His name is Theodore Romano."

"Is he expecting you?" She asked as she typed on the hotel keyboard.

"Yes." I replied shortly.

"It's mandatory that I confirm." I nodded.

The receptionist called to Theo's room and had a brief, incoherent conversation I assumed due to the fact that she needed to ask Theo to repeat himself multiple times.

"He's in suite 304, floor 9." She hands me a key card. "Thank you." She smiled once again.

As I walked to the elevator, anxiety ran through me.

The ride was fairly short. Not many people getting on.

Searching through the hallway, I looked at each number on each door until I saw room 304.

Before scanning the key card, I stopped to think about what I could be walking into.

Internally shaking the thoughts from my head, I scanned and opened the hotel door.

The smell of alcohol was almost as distracting as the view. The room was decorated in red and nude. Everywhere. There was a flat screen on the wall above a rather large table top. I glanced over to the kitchen area and found marble countertops and paintings on the wall. Suitcases scattered on the floor, with clothes half hanging out.

My mind was clearly clouded by Theo's way of living I had forgotten why I was here.

I found myself wandering to find the bedroom, trying my best to step around magnum condom wrappers.

Yuck.

Theo was half passed out on the king sized bed, surrounded by a empty bottle of scotch and a half drunken bottle of bourbon.
