MILA
"I want to love you in every kind of way"
***
Three days before the wedding
"This dress is beautiful. Truly eye catching." My mama said, looking up from her phone.
"Everything is confirmed, M. I can't believe you're getting married." Odessa squealed.
"I can't believe I'm pregnant and engaged." I inhaled a deep breath. "But I am glad this baby will have two amazing aunts and a supportive grandma." I looked over at Cami and Odessa, then at my mom.
"I'm going to be Mrs. Romano." I smiled, then cupped my growing belly. "If I take photos strictly from the front, do you think people will be able to tell I'm pregnant?"
"Probably not." Cami said, pulling out her phone. "Let me see." She snapped a picture then showed it to me.
"It's not that noticeable. I can pull it off." I shrugged my shoulders. "Now please help me take this thing off."
I agree with my mom, this dress is fucking gorgeous. For the price, I better feel like a damn princess. Theo didn't care about the price of anything, he just wants me to be comfortable and happy with whatever I choose.
It's his wedding, too. I tried to get him to decide on if we'll serve fish or chicken, and he played it safe and said both.
Odessa helped me put my sundress back on, and we headed to the nearest place for lunch.
We sat at a booth, and the restaurant mostly served vegan shit. You'll eat anything when you're hungry.
"What's the baby hungry for today?" My mama said in a childlike voice.
"This baby will eat whatever I tell it to." I joked. "I am in the mood for a shrimp salad, though."
"That sounds so good," Cami sighed, "But so does this vegan steak."
"Get what you like. Lunch is on me today. As a thank you for putting up with my mood swings and bitchy attitude." I began to tear up.
Stupid pregnancy hormones.
"Aw, babe." Odessa leaned in to hug me, "Don't cry. We're always here for you."
I sniffled, and looked up at her. "Really?"
"Really, M. Always."
Our waiter came and took our orders, and when he walked away, my phone rang and across the screen read Mateo's name.
"Hey, Matty."
"Hey, sis. Where are you?"
"Having lunch. What's up?"
"Is dad with you? He's not picking up."
"He's been in a meeting all day. What did you fuck up?" My mother mouthed something, but I didn't pay her any attention.
"Nothing, Mila. Why do you always assume I fucked something up?"
"Well, because you always fuck something up." Even though he can't see me, I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever. How are you feeling? How's the baby? Did you like the things I sent you?"
"I'm feeling good, just hungry. The baby is good, and yes. My apartment is filled with the gifts you sent. Thank you."
I thought about the huge pile of baby stuff in the living room and chuckled.
"Have you and Theo found out the gender? I'm eager to find out if I'll be an aunt or an uncle."
