"Punz." He muttered. The conversation had ended around an hour ago.
"Can you speak louder? I can barely hear you, underling!" You yelled back. He turned towards you. Still very annoyed from the previous conversation.
"Punz. There." He said it right to your face so he knew that you would hear it.
"Hm, wonder how many jokes people make about that." You say, giggling as you internally make a few yourself. He deadpans and sighs for like... the seventeen-hundredth time today.
"That's not very funny." He responds firmly.
"Don't you mean... that's not very punny?" You laughed more, hitting your knee. "Ow, that actually hurt my knee." You blink, not looking at the blond anymore. You open your eyes to see a small smirk come across his face before he realizes.
"You are dumb most of the time." Punz said, looking away. You still started to laugh.
"What do you mean 'mOsT oF tHe TiMe'? You literally just met me today." You say, laughing quieter now.
"Yesterday, actually." He points out with a small smile. You then began rambling about why the fight didn't count, to which he didn't listen.
You took the opportunity. His back was to you, and there was a guard change. You climbed through the bars. The guard noticed, pointing it out. Punz grabs you from behind, and drops you back in the cell.
"You try too often." Punz said, turning the conversation to the point where he could see you.
"It seems like you have everything under control here, and I'm coming from the larger set. So how about you stay until the next shift?" The guard said, and turned around to leave. You could hear him on the stairs.
"Lucky me." He said very sarcastically. He was very annoyed with you. You couldn't help but laugh. Sure you didn't get out, but you kept annoying Punz. The one thing that was worth staying in here for.
Except it wasn't worth anything. You still had other duties to attend to around the castle, like sword fighting and archery, along with other random things you would always do. Sure, the same routine all the time was boring, but it kept you organized. You don't constantly feel like something different will happen and ruin everything.
That was exactly how you felt now, stuck in the dingy prison with Punz. "You kinda suck, don't you?" You ask quietly, fiddling with your hands.
He sighs and sits across from you outside of the bars, leaning on the palm of his hand. "Yeah, I kinda do."
"Well you can tell I can sometimes as well, so welcome to the club." You said, holding your hand out through the bars for him to shake. He did. You were very surprised that he did. Maybe he simply wanted you to stop talking. Either way, it was nice.
You decided not to annoy him for a good hour before thinking of another escape route. Punz was leaning against a wall across the hall.
"Don't. Even. Think about it." He moaned at you. Almost as if he knew that you were thinking of a way out.
"Well it's not like there's anything better to do!" You said back. Still not getting distracted from your escape plan.
"Exactly. It's a prison, not a playground." Punz said, you were both still maintaining eye contact.
"Are you sure about that? Not like I could just do..... this!" You said and jumped through a higher set of bars with a large hole. Punz started sprinting towards you. You started sprinting towards the window. He caught you again from the back. You relaxed your body to flow through and slip right out of his grip.
He got tired of you so instead he simply picked you up and threw you back in the cell, underestimating his own strength. When you were in, your head collided with the wall, sending you straight into unconsciousness for the second time because of him.
