A/N So if you haven't seen the comments recently in the past books/seasons I have received a lot of love and support. I appreciate you all so much. Unfortunately I recently received some harsh criticism and a part of it completely and utterly broke my heart to the point where I was in tears and absolutely never wanted to write again. The other half of me took it and burned it into the fire of pure passion that I have for writing. I'm hoping to improve and have even gotten a Beta reader. With this being said, I only hope to continue to grow and welcome any and all help as long as my story or my character is not harshly criticized.
Thank you and I appreciate you all!
Enjoy!
The Kids Are Alright (1)
Kylie's POV
The smell of coffee and pancakes filled my nose as I looked through the stacks of papers that Sam had printed out from the local library. We were on a frantic search to find anything to save Dean. The idea of time running out laid heavy on our hearts as each day passed.
I gave the papers a toss on the table, a frustrated breath huffing out of my mouth as the research plopped down heavily.
Sam looked up from his reading, a dark brow raised high. "What?" He asked with a dissatisfied huff.
"This is ridiculous and you know it." I crossed my arms, letting my back press against the plastic back of the red booth.
"It doesn't hurt to try." Sam rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands.
We were both frustrated and tired, working day and night to find anything that would break the deal.
"Yeah it does." I scoffed, pointing down at the symbols that were printed out neatly on the papers. "We try to pull this off, we're going to end up pissing off some demons." I held up one finger. "Pissing off Dean." I held up another one. "And wasting time that we don't have to waste." I held up a third one before smacking my palm down on the sticky table dramatically.
"Well what do you suggest?" He snapped lowly at me, leaning his elbows against the table. "I'm all ears."
He paused, waiting for me to say something, but I sat quiet and defeated.
"That's what I thought." He sighed, glancing up at the waitress who politely smiled at him as she filled our coffee cups. As she walked away his gaze came back to me. "Like you reminded me," He started, "We're running out of time and I seem to be the only one doing anything about it."
"Are you kidding me right now?" I glared at him. "I have done everything in my power to save Dean."
"No," He shook his head, grabbing his steaming coffee, "you've done everything to keep Dean happy. There's a difference Kylie."
I squinted angrily, folding my arms against the table. "Is this about trying to save Dean? Or is this about something else?" I asked rather calmly.
I watched as Sam's eyes flickered back and forth as he struggled internally with himself.
"What is it Sammy?" I asked, hoping that he would quit fighting with himself and let out whatever was on his mind.
"I'm calling Bobby."
I felt my shoulders drop as Sam pulled out his phone, pressing the speed dial button with his long fingers before putting it up to his ear.
"Unbelievable." I sighed to myself.
My finger played with the rim of my steaming coffee mug, the heat stinging the tip as Sam explained what he had found to Bobby.
The more he spoke the more discouraged I became. I watched as Sam's body became tense as he listened.
