Fresh Blood (4)
Kylie's POV
"Did you really have to come with me?"
I glanced up from my map to the scowling green eyed hunter, who looked as if he was minutes away from exploding on me. The three of us had decided to split up our search for Gordon with promises of not going after him without backup. When Sam immediately agreed, I knew that I could trust him. Dean's hesitation told me that he would break the promise, so here I was in the passenger seat of the Impala clearly annoying the older Winchester.
"Yes, yes I did." I nodded simply which only pissed him off more.
I listened as he grumbled angrily, not clearly understanding the words but I knew that they weren't exactly nice ones. Batting my eyelashes, I turned in my seat, the leather making my turn smooth. I laid my arm across the back and raised a brow at him.
"Talk up. I can't hear when you're grumbling like a child." A smirk appeared on my lips as his turned into a tight line.
"Gordon is after you and Sam." He stated the obvious. "You should be with him, keeping an eye on each other." He glanced in my direction, his green eyes crinkled in anger. "Not here, babysitting me."
"Yes dumbass, I'm babysitting you because I don't trust you." I stated bluntly, watchin him recoil in surprise. "If you get an eye on Gordon, you're not going to wait for backup."
He rolled his eyes but stayed silent only proving that I was right.
"Do you understand why I had to come with you?" I asked him like he was a small child. He may have the body of the man, but he had the brain of a five year old.
"Fine." He grumbled as he adjust, trying to get comfortable in his seat. We came to a stop at a red light when he finally looked at me. "We've been everywhere on this side of town." He sighed, leaning over to look at the map in my hands. "There's no sign of him."
"Yeah, I know." I rubbed the back of my neck. "Who knows where he's hiding out. Probably feeding somewhere."
Dean pressed the gas sending the car forward, deep in thought. "You think he's capable of doing that?"
I looked at him quizzically. "What do you mean?" I asked, folding up the small town map.
"I mean, do you think he's capable of feeding off a innocent human?" He pondered, his fingers tapping the steering wheel. "The guy despised these things. They turned his younger sister. I just - I don't see him doing that."
"Well," I sighed, propping my cheek in my palm, "you have to remember that it's not Gordon anymore. Any part of him disappeared as soon as he became a vampire."
Dean was silent, the dazed look in his eyes told me that he was mentally somewhere else.
"Anything you want to talk about?" I asked softly.
He drew his plump bottom lip between his teeth and gave a shake of his head. "Nope."
"You know you can't-"
"We need to get back to the motel." He interrupted. "See if Sammy's there waiting."
I frowned, but gave a quiet nod of my head as I turned back in my seat. Watching the lights of the town as Dean drove, my mind began to wonder. I knew that Dean Winchester was thinking about where he'd end up if we didn't save him in time, but did he think he was going to be a monster? I knew in my heart that there was no way that he would become one, but did he know that too? Did he trust himself enough to know that there wasn't an evil bone in his body?
Pulling up to the motel, Dean and I made a quick exit of the car and headed towards our room. Immediately, Dean pulled off his jacket in frustration while I followed behind, quietly taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
