"Nov! Hey, it's me— come on— wake up!"

My brain, still more than half asleep, vaguely registered the sound of a familiar voice shouting overtop of me, but I tried to shut it out.

Why do I need to wake up? It's too early. I'm warm and the bed's too comfortable...

"Nova! Seriously, we haven't got much time— let's go! Get up!"

The sudden feeling of strong hands grabbing onto my shoulders and giving them a firm shake caused my body to jolt upright. My eyes snapped open and I clutched my chest from the shock of being so abruptly awakened.

"W-what?! What is it?!" I gasped, looking around and wiping the bleariness from my vision as best I could.

Stood before me was a pajama-clad George, his hair tousled and sticking out in all sorts of directions like it normally is after a good sleep. At first sight of him here in front of me, I thought maybe he was waking me up to do something dumb or go on an adventure in the middle of the night, but I quickly realized that couldn't possibly be the case. Not when he was looking down at me with such urgency in his brown eyes and an expression of pure worry plaguing his features.

Something was wrong. I could tell not only by just George's panicked appearance, but by what I was hearing as well. Last night, I'd fallen asleep to the rambunctious noises of celebration... but now, as I listened to my surroundings, all of those were completely gone. There wasn't anymore singing or laughter. Rather, I was hearing screams and the sounds of thudding footsteps passing by right outside my tent as if people were hurrying somewhere awfully fast.

I didn't have much time to process what was going on before George reached out for my arm and gripped it hard. "We have to go! Now!" he urged.

"But—" I started, giving him a confused look, but before I could finish my sentence he pulled me out of bed and onto my feet with a swift yank.

A flicker of movement to my right caught my eye and I turned, seeing Jasper and Fred rushing towards us from the other side of my tent. Being dragged along behind them were Hermione and Ginny, both of whom were hastily throwing on jackets over their nightdresses, looking rather frazzled. Clearly they'd just been torn from a deep sleep and given no proper reason as to why, just like I'd been.

My eyes flickered between George and my brother once more, imploring them to explain. "What's going on? I don't unders—" I tried again, but was cut off by Jasper shoving my coat and shoes into my arms.

"Put these on," he said quickly, running a nervous hand through his hair.

I took them from him but froze for a second, my  brain trying to process what was going on. I felt so incredibly confused and plain disoriented. I'd barely been awake for one minute and so much was happening. I didn't understand any of it and why we were having to leave so fast.

"Hurry, Nova!" Jasper yelled impatiently, snapping me from my thinking and making me jump slightly. "We need to get out of here!"

I immediately did as I was told, shakily wrapping my jacket around myself and slipping my shoes on. The second I'd finished, Jasper grabbed my hand, George immediately taking the other one. Then I was rushed out of the tent before I could utter so much as another word. Following right behind the three of us on our heels were Fred, Ginny, and Hermione.
