{ A/N: sorry it's been awhile. Missed you all! Sending all the love your way <3
P.S. happy almost October! Arguably one of the best months of the year! }

Finally, September 1st arrived and I couldn't have been more excited to return to school. I missed all of my friends dearly, I was looking forward to my studies this go around, and most of all, I was eager to learn about what huge top-secret surprise was taking place this year at Hogwarts. I couldn't wait; all the way to King's Cross, my stomach felt like it would burst with butterflies.
Mum, Remus, Jasper, and I made it to the train station at a quarter to eleven. We weaved our way through the crowds of muggles who had no idea at all about the place we were traveling to, all the way until we came to the barrier separating platforms nine and ten. Then, as inconspicuously as possible as to not attract muggle attention, we fell right through the magical barrier and platform nine and three quarters materialized before our eyes.
The four of us were immediately greeted by the gleaming scarlet Hogwarts Express, clouds of steam billowing from its smokestack, as it waited patiently for passengers to board it. All along the platform were families hugging each other goodbye, overexcited pets jabbering in their cages, and Hogwarts students running eagerly to their friends they hadn't been able to see over the holidays.
"Do write to me this term, you hear?" Mum told Jasper and me as she and Remus walked us toward the train. "And I'll expect pictures in the post, too, alright?"
"Of course, Mum," I assured her. "We promise."
"And try to stay out of detention," she continued, pointing a stern finger at us.
"But don't stay out of trouble," Remus cut in with a knowing look. "Be young and have fun, just don't get caught," he winked, ignoring Mum who cocked her eyebrow at his advice.
"Already planning on it," Jasper grinned back, just as the whistle of the Hogwarts Express blew loudly, signally it was ready to leave.
"Okay, quick, come here!" Mum said. All four of us quickly wrapped our arms around each other in a big group hug. "Be safe. We love you two!"
"Love you!" my brother and I replied as we let go and hurried for the train's doors, climbing on board.
Soon thereafter the pistons hissed loudly and the train began to move. We smiled and waved goodbye to Mum and Remus one last time before shutting the doors and heading into the main part of the train.
We'd hardly started walking down the corridors and passing compartments full of bustling teenagers when a sudden shriek split the air from somewhere behind us.
"NOVA PIERCE!"
I knew who was calling my name the minute I'd heard it. As soon as I turned around, none other than Callista Hudson—with her entire warm-colored, freckled face lit up in a gigantic smile—was running towards me at full speed, her mop of dark brown curls billowing out behind her as she hurried to catch up with my brother and I.
The next thing I knew, she was dropping her luggage bag on the ground and practically tackling me in one of her infamous bone-crushing hugs.
"Merlin, Callie," I laughed as she squeezed me as tight as she could and hopped up and down on her feet from excitement. "I missed you too!"
