You paced around the house as you waited for JJ and Henry to get home. You shook your hands to get the antsy energy out of your body as you walked in big circles.
JJ got home and her two-year-old bounded into the house. He looked up at you in the way he so often did, wanting someone to pick him up. You smiled, picked him up, and said, "Hey, Hen, how was your week with Daddy?"
"Good! Mommy say you gonna stay with us maybe!" He seemed excited. You put on a smile and bounced him on your hip. Briefly, you made eye contact with JJ, who smiled, seeming nervous behind her eyes.
"Yeah, bud, is that okay? You mind?" He giggled and shook his head.
"No! I no mind! You nice, Auntie! I love you!" He moved to give you a big kiss on the cheek. Henry always put a smile on your face. JJ was grinning from ear to ear.
"Aw, I love you too, buddy. How was your day? You spend some time with Daddy?"
"Uh-huh!"
"Henry, bud, you wanna have a snack?" asked JJ. He leaned over so JJ could take him in her arms. He nodded as JJ carried him to the kitchen, you following behind them. JJ made him a snack and sat with you on the couch, where you could see him. You started to feel a bit nauseous; for the most part you were fine, you just physically felt shitty.
You two hadn't been together around him since JJ told him about your relationship — that was a recent development — so you were a little hesitant to be affectionate with her. JJ noticed how little you were touching her and wondered whether it was because of Levi or Henry.
"Love, you alright?" she checked in quietly. You nodded. "I know today was really painful. You don't have to hide from Henry if you wanna be close, though, baby. Just not, y'know, ridiculously..."
"Yeah. Right. Uh..." You repositioned yourself and JJ put her arm around you. "This okay?"
"Mhm, great, love," JJ replied.
Henry finished his snack and jumped into JJ's lap. "Mommy!" JJ kissed his little forehead over and over, and she looked up to see a massive smile on your face.
"Hello, my boy," she said to him, "how was your snack? You wanna watch a show?"
"Yes, please!" He smiled up at you and poked your chin, pointing to your smile. "Auntie! You smile!"

You all ate dinner together, of course, and Henry was put to bed at 7. Your girlfriend noticed that you hadn't eaten too much, but she would talk to you later, she decided. JJ came out from Henry's room and kissed your cheek as she sat down, sighing. "Hey, Jay," you said.
"Hi. You feeling alright?" You shrugged. Still a little nauseous, and very tired. "Baby..." she cooed.
"I'm...fine, babe. It's been a long day," you said.
"I noticed you didn't eat too much, love, are you feeling alright?" she asked. You shrugged again.
"I'm a little nauseous. I think I was just really nervous and upset today, and I guess my body doesn't know when to quit," you tried to laugh. JJ nodded. Her eyes flitted between your lips and somewhere else in the room. "I see you," you chuckled. JJ smiled nervously. "Kiss me, baby."
JJ moved so it was easier to kiss you. You wrapped your arms around her neck, and hers snaked around your torso. "Is this okay?" you asked quickly, "Am I hurting you?"
"No, baby, you're perfect," she sighed. You could feel the smile on her face as you kissed. "Are you good? Does this feel okay?"
"Yeah, I think so," you replied. JJ nodded and kept kissing you.
"Is it alright if we slow down?" JJ asked. "I'm a little...nervous," she chuckled. "Sorry,"
"No, of course. I was actually gonna ask for same thing. But what's got you nervous, love?" you asked her. She slowly kissed your forehead, keeping there a long while, and pulled away to look at you with a gentle smile.
"I'm—I'm fine, baby, just a lot on my mind. Worried about...stuff,"
"About me?" you asked, smiling lovingly as you knew what she had been about to say. "Baby, just be honest,"
"Yeah. Yeah. I know, I'm sorry," she said. You used your middle finger to stroke her hair.
"Don't apologize, Jay, you're fine. I get that you're worried about me. You're handling it way better than I would in your situation. I know you just want..." You sighed. "You want what's good for me, and for us, and I absolutely adore that about you,"
"I love you, Y/N," she said in a near whisper.
"I love you, baby. Please let me know when you're...you're getting burnt out, or—or tired, I want to be there for you too. You don't have to be so strong."
You could see the tears burning in her eyes. She put her forehead on your shoulder. You didn't realize she was really crying until she shook with sobs.
"Oh, baby..." you said. "Hey, shh, Jay, I've got you, baby." She put her hand on your chest and cried for a solid minute.
"I'm..." she started through sobs.
"No, hey, what, baby?"
"Nothing, nothing, I—I'm...I'm just so worried,"
"I know you are, love. We're okay right now, though, hmm?" JJ kept her head on your shoulder, now looking out at the room instead of down in the darkness of the couch. She nodded. You continued, "We're alright, love. And I have you..." You touched her nose, making her smile a little. "...and I love you so much, Jayje,"
"Y/N," she sniffled. "I'm so in love with you. I'm so glad I have you in my life." You kissed the crown of her head.
"And you'll always have me, my love. Are you feeling any better?" JJ nodded and sniffled.
"A lot better, love, thank you. I can't believe you're the one comforting me right now," she scoffed at herself. You shook your head and kissed hers.
"You deserve someone to be soft with you, my sweet Jennifer."
At some point you two decided to go to bed, and you made sure JJ was alright. "I promise you I'm fine, honey. I just needed to get that all..." She exhaled and looked at you with a grateful smile. "I'm good now. And I really want to hold you tonight. If that's something you're alright with," she added quickly.
"Mhm. But, uh..." You had had a rough day, and you weren't sure if you could handle her holding you so tight without getting anxious. And you still felt sick to your stomach.
"I know," she said, reading your mind, "I'll be gentle, love."
You both finished getting ready for bed— JJ not watching you change so you weren't uncomfortable— and cuddled in bed before going to sleep. As she always was, JJ was so soft and careful not to hurt you. You truly felt safe, she was one of the only people who could make you feel that way.
