[sick warning, towards the very end]

"Auntie!" Henry bounded into the kitchen and almost bowled you over with the force of his hug. "Auntie, I miss you!"

"Oh," you groaned as you picked him up, "I missed you too, buddy. How are you?"

"Good! I draw picture! You and Mommy and Daddy and me!"

"And what did Mommy say about that one?" JJ prompted, making fleeting, amused eye contact with you.

"We gonna put it on the fridge!"

Your jaw dropped to show him your surprise. "Wow! It must be a really good picture, then. Can I see it?"

"Uh-huh! In my backpack. I go get it!"

You put him down, and he ran off to the door, where his backpack was kept. Once he was out of sight, JJ turned to you and whispered, "He's really excited. You have such a way with him."

Before you could respond, he reappeared, running back to you with drawing in hand. It was a masterpiece of markers, the remnants of which you could see on his hands and the ends of his sleeves.

"Oh my goodness, this belongs in a museum!" you exclaimed. He giggled. "Mommy's right, we need to hang this up." You grabbed a magnet from the fridge and attached it where it would be visible to you and JJ as well as Henry. "I think that's a good place. What do you think, Henry?"

"Uh-huh." He brushed some hair out of his face.

"Alright. You wanna go play?"

"Yeah! Auntie, you come play with me? Please?" he begged. You couldn't say no to that sweet boy and his good manners.

"Of course, buddy. Let's go."

You smiled back at JJ and let Henry lead you by the hand to his bedroom. He had a rocket in which he could put his little Batman and Robin and associated action figures. You remembered JJ buying him that for Christmas.

Before you knew it, JJ knocked on the open door and said, "Alright, you two, Mommy's gonna start making lunch. What do you want?"

"Peanut butter-jelly!" Henry exclaimed.

"How do you ask?" you prompted.

"Please!"

"Okay, you can have a sandwich, bub. Auntie Y/N, what do you want?"

"I'll have the same, love."

JJ smiled, making you do the same. "Okay. Be ready in a couple minutes, so finish up with your game, my loves."

You helped Henry put his toys away and he came and stood in front of you. "Auntie, I sit in your lap? Please?"

"Oh, of course, my sweet boy. Come here." He crawled into your lap and you held him gently. You stroked his hair, blonde like his mom's, and kissed the top of his head.

"Auntie, I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too, Henry. You're the sweetest boy, and I love you so, so, so much." He turned up and smiled at you. That boy's smile could heal a plethora of wounds. "Alright, buddy, I think it's time to go eat our sandwiches. You ready?"

"Yeah!"

You picked him up and carried him to the kitchen. JJ smiled and put the two plates on the table. "I ate while you were playing. What did you play?"

"Batman rockets!"

"Oh, yeah? Did you have fun playing with your Auntie Y/N?"

"Yeah, she give me lotta kissies!" He took a big bite of his sandwich.

You both ate your lunch, and when he was done, Henry pushed his plate towards his mom and sat in her lap.

"Bub, let's go read a book, huh? Go pick one for me. I'll read to you and you can take a little nap,"

"Okay, Mommy." Henry went to go choose a book for JJ to read him to sleep. Your girlfriend took Henry's plate and brought it to the sink, and you followed with your own.

"He had a lot of fun playing 'Batman rockets', as he put it," you chuckled. "After you came in, I had him put away his toys, and he just wanted to sit in my lap,"

"God, that's adorable..." fawned JJ.

"Mommy, Mommy, this one! We read this one please?" JJ took the book from his tiny hands and nodded.

"Sure, sweet boy. Come on, let's get you to bed,"

"Night-night, Auntie,"

"Bye, buddy. I love you,"

"Love you," he parroted. JJ picked him up and carried him to his room, giving you a smile before she left.

You lied on the couch, and put one hand on your belly and the other on your forehead. You allowed your eyes to close, and before you knew it, JJ was joining you. She pulled your legs up so she could sit underneath them, and then let you lay them across her lap.

"How are you feeling, babe?"

"Shitty," you answered. "I just adore morning sickness, misleading name and all,"

"Oh, I know, my poor girl," she whined. "It'll be okay, just a few more weeks and the first trimester'll be over. It'll go away soon,"

"Not soon enough,"

"You want me to rub your feet, love? Won't help, but I doubt it can hurt,"

"Sure, Jay, go ahead." You couldn't answer much more than that, as you were focusing on keeping down your sandwich.

"I think I'm gonna call someone tomorrow. I saw a therapist a few years back, but I stopped going 'cause I had Henry, and between shared custody and work, I got so busy. And I was feeling a lot better. I think I need to start going again, so I'll call tomorrow."

You ran to the bathroom and threw the door shut behind you. JJ opened it and knelt down beside you as she held back your hair. You flushed the toilet and sat against the wall, panting. JJ came and sat next to you.

"Just a few more weeks, love. It should fade soon enough. You want me to stay with you?"

You groaned, "Yeah, please."
