"I was wondering. . . Do you want to go out Friday? Like, on a date."
I nearly choked on my own spit. A date?
"Um. . . Landon. I don't know how to say this," I told my friend. "But I have a boyfriend."
His eyes widened to the point where I actually thought his eyeballs would fall and roll onto the floor.
"I'm so sorry," He apologised. "I- I didn't know. U-Uh, well. . . Who is it?"
"Carter Hays," I responded.
"Oh," He answered awkwardly.
"I'm sorry," I told him sincerely. "But we can still hang out Friday. . ."
"Uh, yeah. sure."
Total and utter awkwardness.
~*~
"He asked you out?" Lania exclaimed.
I put my face into my hands.
"Yeah," I groaned.
"That's so adorable!"
"Um, yeah," I said. "No."
"What did you tell him?" Lania asked.
"I just said that I'm dating Carter, but then I said that we could still hang out on Friday."
"No, no, no," Lania shook her head. "If you guys hang out on Friday, it will be completely awkward!"
I sighed. "Well, what do you suggest?"
She flapped onto the beanbag she had in the corner of her room. "I don't want to sound like I'm intruding but. . . Your going to have to ask someone to go with you."
I paused to think. "Carter?"
She shook her head, again. "That's going to create complete friction. Landon is going to think you are trying to make jealous, and Carter will most likely get mad that you have a guy friend."
I groaned. Then, Ding, Ding, Ding. I picked up at what Lania was practically screaming at me. "Lania, will you come with me?"
"If it's not too awkward," She responded, her cheeks coloring.
"You like him," I gasped. "Don't you."
Lania sighed. "It's not like I'm trying to mess your guys' relationship up, or anything. It's just a stupid little crush, that's all. No big deal."
I smiled. Oh, how I will have fun with this.
~*~
Lania pressed the white button near the door. *Ding, Ding, Ding.*
The doorbell rang and through the door we both heard footsteps, coming to attend to us. Landon opened the door, revealing his navy blue graphic tee shirt, and grey sweatpants.
"Come on in," He motioned, then turned on his heels, and headed into the living room.
I turned to Lania and wiggled my eyebrows. She let out a sigh and rolled her eyes, walking in.
"My parents went out for the weekend, so we can just hang out, watch a movie, and order a pizza if you guys want," Landon offered.
I nodded my head. "That sounds good; Lania, is that good with you?"
She shrugged, "Sure."
An evil plan struck me. "I'm going to go to the bathroom. . ."
"Uh, okay," Landon replied strangely.
"Yeah. . ." I trailed off, then ran to find the bathroom.
I could faintly hear Lania telling Landon, "That was awkward."
I grinned to myself, and closed the bathroom door.
I put the toilet down, and pulled out my phone.
How are you feeling? I texted Carter.
I waited a minute or so, before he texted back, Alright. How are you doing?
I let out a dramatic sigh, before texting him back. I knew that if I were to tell him everything that happened this week, it would be one of the longest texts ever.
Things are going alright. Can't wait 'til you get back to school ;)
Immediately Carter texted back, Me too. Love you.
I was about to text back, when there was a knock on the door.
"Piper? You okay?"
It was Landon. "Yeah. Just freshening up. You two hang out."
I could hear his sigh through the door. "Alright."
Footsteps were heard on the hard wood floor, as he walked away.
I gave them about ten minutes, responding to Carter's text with an 'I love you, too' and then left the bathroom- deciding it would be best in order for Landon to not suspect that I was trying to set him and Lania up.
I slowly walked down the grand mahogany staircase, trying to take as much time doing nothing what so ever.
Finally, I entered the living room to find- No one.
Strange, I thought to myself. Most likely the basement then.
I ever so slowly walked towards the basement, trying to make the least amount of noise possible.
It was generally silent, with the lights out. I was about to go back upstairs when I heard a noise.
Finding- blindly- a baseball bat laying on the side of the staircase, I picked it up carefully.
Creeping down the staircase quietly, I lifted the baseball bat up to my head.
Quickly, I flipped the light switch on.
I noticed pizza on the coffee table, untouched.
But before that, I saw something that made me drop the heavy bat onto my toe, and gasp extremely loud.

yes, this is ANOTHER cliffhanger.
but seriously, if you can not foresee what will happen next, what happened to your imagination?
its kind of EXTREMELY OBVIOUS what will happen- wink wink.
sorry this is a short chapter, but I sorta wanted to update soon. (lame excuse) it's also only 923 words so. . .
so that's all the chapters for today. (daym, I sound like a freaking Youtuber, bahah)
