"I love you," Carter whispered into my ear.
My whole body froze. I've never heard anyone tell me that they loved me. Is it too soon to say 'I love you'? We've been dating for only a handful of months. But how could I not say 'I love you' back? Because I do. I do love him.
I know what love means. When your heart sinks every time your away from each other, and when it accelerates every time he's near. When you can't imagine this part of life without him. I love Carter Hays.
Yes, I love him. The kind of love that makes your heart hurt.
Should I say 'I love you', back, though? Am I ready for that? But before I could think more about it, my voice spoke for me; "I love you, too," I whispered gently in his ear.

"Popper!" I heard someone shout in the school hallway. What the hell? Popper?
I turned right in time to see a figure crash into me. Ow.
I groaned on the floor and got up, pushing the body on top of me off. "Watch where your going!" I shouted.
Do I need anger management? Maybe so.
I looked to the body on the floor, the face looking familiar. "Landon?" I said, confused. I extended my hand for him to grab, and he got up.
Dusting off his jeans, he said; "I shouted your name before we collided. You should have gotten out of the way."
I rolled my eyes. That was him?! "It's Piper, not Popper. I'm not a druggie, for your information."
"I don't know, you could be." He shrugged.
I let out a loose laugh. "And you could be a 79 year old man. There is a possibility for everything."
He laughed along with me and asked, "What class do you have next?"
"Um, algebra. You?"
He looked at his schedule. "Yeah, I have algebra, too. Who do you have?"
"McLarrin."
"Yeah, me too. Guess we have another class together."
"We're going to be late. She hates late people."
-
Of course, guess who's my new algebra partner. If you guessed Landon, Ding Ding Ding, you earned a cookie. Congratulations.
At least I have another friend. A good one who I can pretend that I'm normal.
The teacher was explaining an equation on the board and I tried quickly to jot down notes. The room was silent with the exception of pens and pencils on paper. Mrs. McLarrin broke the silence and announced, "Now got together with your partner and begin page one hundred and seventy two in the workbook."
