Yes, I am aware that it's been two months since I uploaded anything. I started working on my book series! I've had an idea for a book series for about two or three years now, and I'm finally working it out! But I won a giveaway and got a 3 month subscription to my writing software and that was just the motivation I needed hahah

"The apotheosis is upon us!"

Emma crawled away from the alien wearing Paul's skin, her leg pulsing, unable to carry her any longer.

Suddenly, the ground splits open, and before a scream rips from her throat, she's falling into the darkness.

On the other side of the lake, Lex pulls her sister close, squeezing her eyes shut in an attempt to disappear from this nightmare for just a minute.

"It's been two weeks," her boyfriend stated with a sigh.

"I know, Eth. I don't know how much longer we'll make it." She whispers those last words, in case Hannah is somehow awake, even though her calm breathing proves she's not.

Ethan peeked over the hood of the car they had been camping behind for the past weeks. It was a miracle they hadn't been found yet. Maybe Tony loved Ethan enough to not lead the horde of alien zombies their way, even if he was one of them.

They were almost out of food, though, and ever since the electricity went out, they had a lot less inventory, the buzzing of the small fridge in the garage replaced by deafening silence.

After hiding for two days of waiting for help, Ethan went out to gather supplies, but apart from a small first aid kit, three cans of diet coke, five granola bars, one bottle of water, and the blanket they slept under, not much was left.

"She's coming..." Hannah mumbled.

Lex startled, looking at the girl in her arms, surprised to find her awake so soon. "Who's coming, Banana?"

"She who knows." Hannah sat up, stretching after sleeping on the stone floor. "Don't worry, she's nice."

Emma was falling. There was no way to tell which way was up or down, all she could register was the endless darkness enveloping her, cold shivers running up her back, and the sickening feeling of confusion and terror.

When her back finally hit something solid, she groaned, squeezing her eyes shut to hide from the sudden brightness.

"Fuck, Ethan, who's that?!"

Pain shot up and down Emma's leg, overwhelming her so much that she almost didn't register the voices. Almost.

Panic washed over her as she realized the implications. Voices meant people. Shit, she was going to die, wasn't she?

"Lex! Shit, she's bleeding!"

Someone was messing with the bandage around her leg, and Emma let out a whimper of both pain and fear, struggling against the hands holding her and the people moving around her. What was going on? She desperately tried to blink the spots from her vision, flinching hard as she came eye to eye with a young girl.

"You know how to stop this."

"-so then I landed here. God, I sound crazy, did I hit my head or something?"

"No," the little girl, Hannah, spoke up. "Webby sent you. Gotta stop the blue bastards."

"Hannah!" Lex gasped. "Where did you learn that word?"
