Chapter 2: The Trollhunter?

For some reason, for the two people who accidently saw the draft of chapter two, I had no idea how it uploaded. It was labelled as a draft. Sorry about that! Now, onto the story!

3rd Person P.O.V

"Trollhunter?"
Jim had to stop himself from flinching at the name. It held so much power. For some reason, this word both made him very excited and very scared.
It was then a whisper swam through his mind, into one ear, out through the next.
"James Lake..."
The voice was barely audible. It almost sounded weak, as if it was dying...
Stricklander's eyes focused in onto him, and must have taken his reaction for something else. "Yes, Young Atlas. The Trollhunter name is indeed one to be wary of. The Trollhunter is the only troll who can stand in the way of our plans, which is why we must be as educated as possible to take them out." He stood and began to slowly pace around the room.
"The Trollhunter isn't just no ordinary warrior. They are chosen by the Amulet of Daylight, which was created by Merin in the days of King Arthur. It's purpose is to find a champion and bless them with Merlin's magic. Once a Trollhunter dies, it goes on to call for a new one almost immediately."
Jim raised an eyebrow and chose to speak.
"Why hasn't the Trollhunter come after us already?"
"Because, Young Atlas, the Trollhunter is dead. Bular has recently slayed him to try to take the Amulet, and free our Lord Gunmar."
"But the only way to free Gunmar is through Killahead Bridge. I remember meeting Gunmar a long time ago. Why didn't he escape when we met?"
"We temporarily held the Amulet of Daylight before Kanjigar took it back. The plan was to gather the army and and send out as many Changling scouts as possible to find a way to retrieve the Eternal Night. That's the one piece we are missing in our plan. Without it, the sun would kill many of Gunmar's army. We cannot act until we have the Eternal Night. Fortunately, we have sent out a good amount of scouts before the bridge was destroyed and the Amulet was taken."
"But it says here the Trollhunter must open the Killahead Bridge himself."
"Do you not remember? Kanjigar was there, not by will of course, but he was there."
Jim dug through his memory deeply, trying to find any sort of troll that could be this Kanjigar character. He found a fragment of a memory that played in his mind.

The bridge blue of the portal swirled around. It was too bright for Jim, who chose to look over his step-father's shoulder as they got closer. He could see the chaos now, how it took chains and so many Changlings to hold him down.
Troll eyes gazed into his as he slowly got farther into the blue.
Those eyes were full of pity.
Of despair,
Of fear, for him.

Jim waved the flashback away from his mind and focused back into Stricklander. "I remember now, yes. It must have took a great amount of effort."
"It was worth the price I suppose. We are in the process of rebuilding Killahead Bridge. We had to flee it's original spot once Kanjigar freed himself. But when we came back, he had taken the liberty of moving and destroying as many pieces as he could, believing he could stop us." Stricklander rolled his eyes. "It's merely a minor setback."
He cleared his throat once more and sat down to eye level with Jim.
"

Here is the most important part, Jim." Stricklander narrowed in on him, and Jim had to restrain himself once more. Stricklander rarely used his name unless it was important, or he was in trouble. He stood up a little taller and gaze him his undivided attention.
"I am telling you this be sure you need it. You need all of the information you can get. This is your first, real mission, and I want you to be as ready as possible."
Jim's eyes widened visibly. His first real mission? He was finally ready?! This was such a life changing moment...
He swallowed the bundle of emotions he felt in order to even his voice.
"My first mission? What's the mission?"
Stricklander paused, letting the suspense hang in the air before speaking.
"You mission is to retrieve the Amulet of Daylight by any means necessary, even if it means killing the new Trollhunter."
