Good things never last long

Avery's pov:

I wake up the next morning, my body drowning in my duvet.

There was nothing really planned for today.

Just a normal Sunday.

Yeah, normal

I carry on with my normal daily routine.

Having breakfast and sitting in my bed for the rest of the day.

Crazy how this was normal for me, whereas other beings my age have lots of fun activities.

If only I could the same.

After pointlessly scrolling through Tik Tok for a good 2 hours and a bit of reading on wattpad, I heard the door of the room down from mine open and close, meaning my mother was going out of her room.

Seconds later, I hear a knock on my door.

That's rare. Mom never knocks, she usually just barges into the room.

"Come in!", I call out.

"Hey. So I actually got a date later at 6 and you will need to stay at home by yourself. I will be home at around 8" , she spoke with a slightly happier voice than usual.

"Oh. Ok", I responded. It was nothing special besides her getting the date, I was already taking care of myself everyday.

"Bye"

And at that moment I thought of an idea.

If she comes back in a pretty good mood.

I can do the thing I have been dreading to do.

I can come out to her

Then maybe she won't be that annoyed and will tolerate it a bit

....

It was 5 pm now and I could hear a bit of shuffling up and down the stairs.

After a good hour of door slamming from my mom, I heard the final time the said door shut.

A bit more of shuffling later, the squeak of the front door finally sounded before it was slammed back closed.

Finally

The house was now mine for at least 2 hours.

I was free to do anything without having to watch my every move.

So the only logical thing I could think of to do was go get something to eat and lay on the couch later for the entire 2 hours.

I grabbed some chocolate chip cookies and opened up Netflix on the tv.

The bold red logo shone on the tv, recommendations popping up a few seconds later.

I scrolled for awhile, finally deciding on "The Little Mermaid".

After half of the movie, the song "Under The Sea" came on.

I immediately remembered the georgenotfound video where dream sang another version of "Under The Sea".

The song automatically stared playing in my head as I mindlessly hummed along.

....

The movie ended and I sat up to go check my phone for any possible notifications since I put it on silent mode earlier.

There was a alert from Twitter saying that dream had tweeted.

I clicked on the notification.

COOKING STREAM POGGGG

I was excited. There could possibly a cooking stream.

Why am I smiling over this?

It hasn't even happened.

Nonetheless, I sat back down on the comfy sofa and put on another movie.

....

I had finished watching my second movie and decided to clear up the little mess I had made.

After throwing away the bag of packaged chips and wiping down the coffee table that was placed in the center of the living room, I decided to get a cup of water before heading back up to my room.

Just as the first drop of water from the water dispenser hit my glass, I heard the sound of a car pull up in the driveway.

That must be mom.

I remained calm, knowing that she will be in a decent mood enough where she won't scream at me.

Sipping from my glass of water, I hear keys jiggling and the front door open.

"Hi mom", I daringly made the first move of a conversation, hoping she was in a good mood.

"Hello", she replied, sounding a bit more happier than usual.

I'm guessing the date went well.

"So how was your date?", I asked, trying to make this conversation a bit longer.

"I'm glad you asked. It actually went very good", my mom replied, smiling like a kid in a candy store.

"Nice. I'm happy for you"

This is the time.

I think it is....

I panicked a bit.

But she is in a good mood

This moment is perfect

Right?
